Aland paused to stare at the two men with a face of astonishment. It was impossible for men who looked from the upper class to recognize him as just a parking attendant. Plus, they greeted Aland very politely.
Not only Aland, but the two men also looked astonished by Aland’s appearance, like a hobo. Aland’s shabby clothes and a little tear on one of Aland’s shoulders caught the two men’s attention.
“Look, is it appropriate for someone who has great work to look like this?”
Aland heard the words of one of the men talking about him. “Is he insulting me? What kind of joke is this?”
“Mr. Aland, can you check your old debit card? You left six hundred and fifty thousand dollars there.”
Aland only smiled bitterly at what one of the men said. It seemed very unlikely to him that there would suddenly be money, let alone a huge amount of it, on his debit card.
“What kind of joke is this? If you want to trick me, then you have the wrong person.” Aland got up and looked lazily at the two men who were making his night even worse.
“Mr. Aland, have you forgotten that you did great work several years ago?” The man tried to reassure Aland, but Aland remained unconvinced.
“Sorry, I don’t have time to deal with charlatans like you.” Aland walked away from the two men and continued on his way.
He couldn’t stop thinking that when he was down and his life felt ruined, he had a man who made his life even crazier.
That night, Aland decided to stay at the basecamp provided by the parking lot manager. He sat leaning against the wall with his legs bent and his face downcast.
“Heh, quickly pay your debt right now? Do you think you’re the only one who needs money?”
Not long after Aland sighed, suddenly his fellow parking attendant came to him angrily.
“I’ll pay tomorrow, I promise!” Aland was forced to lift his face to see the very unfriendly expression on his friend’s face.
“I don’t believe it! Hurry up and pay your debt now, or I’ll take your money.” Aland’s friend pulled Aland’s bag, which he was holding very tightly.
There was some tension, but finally Aland decided to let go of the bag that had nothing valuable in it.
Some of Aland’s friends at the base camp laughed at him. Almost all of them disliked Aland because they were jealous of the good looks that were attached to his face. Especially if Aurelia, who is the owner of a salon located not far from the base camp, comes to just give snacks to some parking attendants. They knew that Aurelia often came to the base camp because she wanted to see Aland’s good looks.
“What? You only have five dollars?” Apart from the fact that he only had five dollars, Aland’s wallet also looked shabby and unusable. Even most of the wallet was peeling off.
“Didn’t I tell you that I don’t have any money? I promise to return it tomorrow.” Aland pulled his bag back.
The sound of footsteps could be heard from behind the base camp. Not long after, a beautiful, fair-skinned woman with long, flowing blonde hair arrived with graceful steps. She was Aurelia. Carrying some snacks, Aurelia smiled sweetly at all the parking attendants at the base camp. But everyone knew that Aurelia’s gaze was only focused on Aland.
“What’s going on?” Aurelia’s voice broke the tension that had just occurred.
“He didn’t pay me what I owed him!” Aland’s friend replied curtly while pointing a finger at Aland.
Aland looked down in shame in front of Aurelia. Not to mention the added heartache of being betrayed by Clarissa and the scorn of the people around him.
While Aland was downcast, he remembered what two strange men had said about the money on his debit card. Although he did not believe it, Aland intended to check.
“I will pay your debt right now.” Aland then walked to the ATM machine opposite the base camp.
A mocking smile appeared on the faces of all Aland’s friends.
“How could he have money on his debit card?” He insulted one of Aland’s friends while smiling sarcastically and smoking a cigarette.
“Yes, just his style is like that of a rich man. This is the first time I’ve seen him take money out of an ATM,” added another.
Aurelia was silent as she watched Aland leave the base camp.
Arriving in front of the ATM machine, Aland looked in his bag for his debit card.
“Where did I put my debit card?” With a feeling of unrest and a chaotic mind, Aland unpacked the contents of his bag. “Found it!”
Aland immediately entered the ATM machine booth. With trembling hands, Aland inserted his debit card into the ATM machine. Aland’s heart skipped a beat when the ATM screen asked him to wait.
After a few seconds, Aland’s eyes widened when the ATM screen showed a fantastic number.
“Six hundred and fifty thousand dollars?”
Aland’s body stared at the ATM screen. Cold sweat flooded the twenty-eight-year-old’s body.
“That’s still a lot left over if I take a hundred dollars to pay my debt.”
Aland typed in the amount of money he needed that night.

“Someone like you can’t possibly have money in an ATM. You have to borrow money from me to buy a drink at the convenience store.”
Insults came out of the mouths of all of Aland’s friends.
“Why do you have such a heart for your friends?” Aurelia approached Aland and whispered, “How much do you owe?”
Aland dismissed Aurelia’s hand, which was about to open his wallet. “There’s no need. I can pay my debts myself, but not right now.”
All of Aland’s friends’ hearts heated up at the sight of Aurel approaching Aland.
