Chapter 2

MARSHALL. “Did you see how she ignored us?” I snarled at my brothers, when I saw that they were out of ear shot. My wolf, owl, had been roaring loudly ever since Dad mentioned she was coming home today. I know I shouldn't push all the excitement to him, knowing how I feel about her as well. Maxwell shrugged, “What did you expect? They she would return home and throw herself on us? After all we did to her, Marshall.” I knew he was right but I wasn't ready to accept that fact yet. I deserved to be properly greeted, as the future alpha of this pack and I am just going to go in there and show her that I am not someone that she can ignore. “Oh no, you are doing no such thing!” Owl roared at me, and I instantly shoved him at the far end of my mind. “Still, she shouldn't have ignored us the way she did. A little hello would have been appreciated.“ Mario, my youngest brother, argued. I gave him an appreciated look and he smiled at me in return. Maxwell wouldn't have it, his eyes blared with a certain fire, and the next thing I knew, he was charging towards the door like a freed lion who had been caged for too long. Mario and I shared a look, before we started for the door ourselves. The scene that welcomed me left me speechless. Maxwell sat with his left arm around Loila's seat, pressing into her side like he wanted to glue to her body. Wasn't he the one saying something about what we did to her in the past earlier? Then what the f**k was he doing with half of his body all over her? “Let's go and join there.” Owl chirped excitedly. “Look over there, there's enough room to contain us.” I shook my head, even though I'd rather have her body slammed hard against my chest. But I knew myself more than my horny wolf. I knew sitting close to her would ignite feelings inside me that would be impossible for me to control. “Impossible Owl, so drop it immediately.” “You are no fun, Marshall. Not at all. Just look at how our younger brother is sitting so close to her. She isn't complaining or are you afraid that she's going to bark at you?” He taunted. “Marshall, what are you standing there for? Come and greet your sister. You haven't seen in three years and all you do is to stand there and staring in space.” Mom snapped in my direction. I looked up to find everyone's eyes on me, noticing the way Loila immediately averted her gaze the moment I caught her staring at me. Great Mom. At least now she finally noticed me. I scoffed in my mind and went and sat with Mario. Out of the corners of my eye, I could see Mario watching her with a mild expression. I knew he longed to be in Max's position right now, but him and I know that he was the one who bullied her the more out of the three of us. “So what course did you study in school?” Mario enquired, his eyes not leaving her. I sat up straight, waiting for her reply. I noticed the way she tensed up but she immediately masked it up with a forced smile. “Actually, I got a first class as a medical student. I also got a degree in psychology.” Her eyes had turned challenging, and I felt Mario squirm beside me. “Wow, that's impressive.” Mom clapped happily. “I always wanted one of you to become a doctor, and now you my daughter has fulfilled that wish of mine.” I snorted inwardly. Daughter my foot. I had never taken Loila as my sister and I would never, not when my body is so attracted to her that it hurts. My brothers and I felt it as well, that was why we resulted to bullying her when we didn't know how best to confess our feelings to her. And also, our parents were little obstacles on their own. Always calling her daughter and never seeing her as anything less than that. I let my eyes take in her delicate features. She was the most stunning girl I had ever seen, with her red fiery hair that she always let loose but today, she chose to make an exception and plaited her into a ponytail. “Does that mean you can actually read minds?” Maxwell's question brought me back to reality. I hadn't read meaning to what she actually said. I watched her, my heart thumping fast against my ribcage, as I waited patiently for her reply.
