Broderick waited until Serena got into the car before telling Wayne, "Take Miss Hope home. I'll grab another ride."
Serena's face was still glowing with delight, a shy little smile lingering on her lips. But the moment she heard that, it froze. Just like that.
She placed her hand on her knees, trying hard to fight the sudden urge to push the door open and jump out. Instead, she turned to Broderick with a bit of pleading in her eyes. "You're not coming with me?"
