Chapter 46

HUGH "Oh Gabriel…" I chuckled, giving my laptop a slight glance, it was displaying a ninety nine percent progress and my smile deepened. "You're going to have to hit me a lot more than this if you want to know what's going on here." "What the hell?!" Mr. E growled. "He has completely shut access to the contestants compartment and look, that's James Hendrix and Eve Finley!" He pointed to the large screen. "Just what are you up to? you bastard!" Mr. E growled, gripping me by my collar. I could see pain painted in his expression. He was obviously scared to the core. "This is Solomon, I don't know what kind of efforts you guys are putting in the power supply room but you better double it!" Solomon barked through his walkie talkie. "Eve Finley, James Hendrix and one other contestant are there in that room." "So you want to cut off the power supply eh?!" Mr. E toned and I scoffed. "Even more." I said and his eyes exclaimed in horror. My eyes darted to the laptop which showed a hundred percent. It was successful, I had accessed the doors to the contestants rooms and the emergency routes. His eyes followed mine and he stared at the laptop in awe. I pressed the device in my left ear and I yelled. "Do it now James!" And as I estimated, within two seconds everything had gone offline. Nothing but darkness loomed, I couldn't even see anybody let alone the expression they had. "What just happened?!" Mr. E asked while Solomon and the guards took out their torches, switching it on. I laughed and they pointed their touches at me. I was mocking them but deep inside, I was happy. My plan succeeded. A plan I had spent so many years building had finally come to fruition. I could finally rest. Finally I feel at ease with myself. "What did you do?" Solomon growled, his voice was blooming with nothing but rage. And it felt like he was going to kill me. But I wasn't scared in the slightest. Anything that comes next after now, I was ready to accept it. "The EMP…" Mr. E said in a shaky voice. "That's right, I helped them activate the EMP." I affirmed and Solomon launched towards me, giving me a powerful punch that almost dislocated my jaw. I fell to the ground and he started kicking me. His kicks were much more powerful than Mr. E. But rather than cry from the pain I was experiencing, my laughter kept coming. "Hit me all you want!" I blared. "Nothing is going to change the situation. The third Arena is already doomed to fall today. You're all doomed!" Solomon suddenly stopped, picking me up like a paper. "It's you that is doomed Hugh. You think you've won? You're the one who is stuck here with us. One way or the other the authorities are going to send help. They'll quickly handle the whole situation." I laughed. "Is that what you think? How foolish of you Solomon. I thought you were smarter than you look." His teeth gritted and his iron grip almost broke my arm. "Let him go Solomon. We have major things to deal with." Mr. E said but his words alone weren't inspiring enough. He himself was hopeless. He knew the bitter truth, today ends the reign of the mighty Third Arena. "We should be figuring a way out of this place. The contestants too, they must be running wild right now. Not to forget the gas leak and fire outbreak." On that note, he dropped me. "There's no way out you fools." I blurted. "Do you know how deep this room is? Before you guys find a way out, this Arena might have exploded." I chuckled. "Shut up!" Solomon kicked me in the gut and I grunted. "After everything you've done Hugh," Mr. E turned towards me. "Do you even think you can escape this alive?" I scoffed while I struggled to rise to my feet. "Do you think I was planning to escape?" He frowned while he took a step closer. "The moment you gave me this job, that was your downfall Gabriel." I said. "I hated you all and I still do. My insides burn anytime I see any of you smile or laugh. Innocent people died just for entertainment. You guys thought you were mighty, untouchable, you think we're weaklings and nothing more than just cows to be slain." I paused trying to catch my breaths. "I watched my friends die, Gabriel. I watched them die horribly in this Arena and it broke me. I hated myself, I wanted to die alongside them but I didn't have that courage. But I definitely had resentment. I vowed to myself, I was going to make all of you pay. I was going to make you all witness fear and terror." I paused again. "As if the heavens were on my side, you foolishly offered me a job. And that was my chance. I was going to execute this plan with a few of the friends I made here but luck found me again. James escaped, he had that resentment I had, he had hope and was ready to survive no matter what odds came against him. And so, I helped him." I paused while a smile graced my lips. "Whatever misfortune that happened in this Arena was me. It was always me." I chuckled but none of them made a move. They just kept staring at me. "Let me tell you one thing Gabriel." I locked eyes with him. "No matter what you do, none of you are going to survive. And you see James Hendrix, I assure you he'll come out of this damned island alive. And when he does, the omega Show is doomed." Solomon scoffed. "Just because you managed to shut the arena down doesn't mean we're going to die, bastard!" "I knew someone would say that. And that's why I came prepared." I said while I pulled out the grenades in my pockets. I started from my suit jacket and to my trousers.
