JAMES
Dave on the other hand sat a few meters away from us while Jason stood by the mouth of the cave like a guard.
I heaved another sigh of relief, my muscles were finally able to relax and the pain didn't strike as much.
"I think this place should be safe till the morning dawns." Eve said.
"It better be because I'm tired of walking." Dave said and moments of silence reigned between us.
"Say, do you think we can actually survive?" Dave asked all of a sudden. He had a deeply worried expression.
"We can." I answered but they remained mute. Even Jason was staring at me.
"If we don't let our fears take control and carve out a well laid plan."
"So where do we start from?" Jason asked.
"Finding their weakness." Daniel mumbled.
"How?"
"I don't know but we'll figure it out one way or the other." He answered.
"I just hope it isn't late when we do." Eve said with a sigh following alongside.
I heaved a sigh too.
"What made you apply for this show?" Dave asked Eve and we focused on her immediately. I could see it in her eyes, she was hesitating but then she heaved a light sigh.
"To save my family." She answered and my interest was further picked.
"My parents own a clinic and It's dying out. To keep it running, we had to incur huge debts. But in the end, the clinic failed again and now we have stuck with debts to pay. I was lucky to come across this show's invitation and I thought, ``hey why don't you give it a shot." She explained and in a way, I felt so attached to her story. She looked so sad just talking about it alone.
"If I had known this was going to be it's outcome..." Her voice trailed off and we just kept staring in silence. "So what about you?" She chirped, focusing on Dave. "Why did you apply?"
"No reason in particular." He simply answered. "I thought it would be fun. Besides, it's a hundred million dollars we're talking about here." He said so casually.
"So what about you Daniel?" He asked and my brother glanced at me with hesitation. I gave him a knowing glance, there was no harm spilling why we came here in the first place.
"Someone is here." Jason muttered, taking a protective stance and my body went stiff. My heart began racing and my breaths toured out unsteady. Whoever this person was, must probably be up to no good! The others quickly rose to their feet, stealthily walking towards Jason. But I, on the other hand, remained seated on the floor. My muscles were weak and the pain from my head still struck deep. My chest heaved up and down in a troublesome manner, my body wouldn't stop trembling.
"They're two." Jason mumbled.
"Oh f**k…" Dave's voice trailed a whispery path.
"Looks like the both of them are headed here." Jason said.
"Should we make a run for it?" Dave asked.
"What? No!" My brother briskly interjected while Eve nodded in assertion.
"We're tired already, running would only put us at disadvantage." She said, "Besides, we don't know if those two are friends or foes yet."
"At this point, I believe we should all know every other person besides us is an enemy." Jason remarked.
"Either way, we have the numbers so even if the worst happens, we'll still be at an advantage." Daniel added as they all stood firmly beside Jason.
"Is anybody there?!" The lady pitched in a very tired manner.
"Who the hell are you?! Stay back!" Jason barked. I frowned whilst trying to find my stance. The fact that I was shut in wasn't sitting well with me.
"Please, we're harmless!" She cried.
"One more step and we'll have no choice but to attack!"
I finally struggled to stand and I wobbled towards them.
"Please, he's going to die if we don't save him. We're harmless believe me!" She lamented.
"Oh yeah, you think we're just going to believe that. For all we know, this might be an act." Dave blurted.
"He's bleeding can't you see? Do you want him to die?" She cried back.
"I think we should let them in. They look harmless." Eve mumbled as I finally joined them.
"Are you crazy?!" Jason blurted.
"Look at the guy, he's seriously bleeding, we should help…" Daniel uttered and I looked closely and there they were, standing just a few meters away. The lady had few blood stains on her shirt while the guy leaning on her was barely conscious. His shirt was covered in blood and he looked like he was going to crash anytime soon. Even though I didn't want to, I felt pity for them. They looked so helpless but then again, it's not like we could trust them.
"I get it okay but that's not enough to let them in. We can't trust them okay!" Jason blared.
"Jason, if we don't help, that guy is going to die!" Eve argued.
"So?! It's not like everyone on this Island is going to survive."
"Jason!" Daniel blared.
"Look I don't trust them, not in the slightest!" He retorted.
"I second that!" Dave pitched. "The only people I can trust are you guys and that's because we've been together from the beginning."
"Exactly," Jason interjected. "If this is how we're going to be sympathetic towards everyone just because of some crocodile tears then we'll have no chance of survival at all!"
"Please, I swear we mean no harm…" The lady cried.
"We can't just leave them out here…we just can't, at least we should stop his bleeding first." Eve mumbled.
"Yeah… Let's just help them, we'll just have to stay on guard." Daniel mumbled and without further Ado, Eve walked towards them and my brother followed too.
"Ah, we're so gonna regret this…" Dave grumbled as he walked inside back. Jason stared at me, as if he were expecting me to say something. But what could I say? I was the indecisive one here. I wanted to help them yet I didn't trust them.
