Chapter Twenty-Four The world doesn’t end all at once. I don’t think people understood that before everything started falling apart. The teacher on the tablet said environmental disasters, pandemics, and plummeting birth rates drove mankind toward innovations that would preserve the human race so future generations could thrive. That sounded like a nice story, but the people in the city knew damn well it was a lie. The teacher got the beginning right, at least as far as I know.
