CHAPTER SEVEN
MEETING THE BOYS
After months of dating, tonight we are going out to dinner to meet Steve's sons. It was decided ahead of time that we would meet at the restaurant. Walking in, I immediately spotted Steve at a table in the back. I can't see the boys with him yet, we're too far away. As I get closer to the table, I can see clearly that there are more than one or two kids at the table. To put it, the very same two sets of triplets I first saw at the mall a few weeks ago, the very same triplets that arrived at school a few months ago, the very same sets of triplets whose party I attended a few weeks ago, we're sitting at the table with Steve. Why haven't they said anything? Surely they knew who I was. Were they playing a game with me after all, I think to myself, with hurt feelings?
Walking up to the table, Steve reaches out, hugs me, kisses my cheek, and then turns to mom to do the same. "Alex, I'd like you to meet my boys, the oldest are Andrew, Blake, and Chase", Steve states. I turn towards the three boys, and my heart stops. Starring down at me are three identical triplets, tall and incredibly good-looking and giving me their complete attention. "The youngest boys are Doug, Erik, and Flynn. The youngest are triplets as well. However, they are fraternal twins." Steve states proudly.
"Hi," I kissed Steve on the cheek, "we attend the same school, I've seen them all around quite a lot. However, this is the first time meeting officially. It's nice to finally meet you." I state with a smile on my face. However, the thoughts in my mind are much different. The shock on my face, I think, is pretty obvious. I think to myself, six sons, I sometimes have as many as six single flowers or six gifts for my birthday. I never knew where, or from who they came. This is too much of a coincidence, they must be the givers of the gifts. I feel a little warm inside because of this information. Maybe this isn't the disaster I thought it would be.
Sitting down, we were handed menus. After finding something we wanted, we ordered and gave the menu back to the waiter. Steve turns and says, "You said you saw the boys around, but you haven't spoken?" he questions, looking from me to the boys.
"Yes, I have seen them around, a lot actually, but we have different classes, different circles and all. They appear to be a jockey, pardon the term, I'm anything but athletic, to be honest."
One of the triplets suddenly leans closer to me, so that only I can hear, "I don't know, you seem pretty in shape to me" as he gently grazes my thigh under the table.
The move was shocking and unexpected. "I dropped my napkin", I quickly said "Excuse me, I'm sorry" and I bent to pick my napkin up off the floor where it dropped.
"We see her around dad, like she says, we move in different circles", one of the identical boy's states, as they all continue to look my way.
Steve, looking at the boys, tells them "Well, make sure you boys look out for her. I wouldn't want any boys who don't deserve her trying to talk to our girl, can we?"
Stunned silent by that remark, I just looked at each one of them.
I believe it was Andrew, who said, "We don't have any intention of letting anyone near her dad."
WT H, is this all about, I think? Not going to let anyone near me? Once again stunned, I didn't say anything for the rest of the meal.
Getting up from the table after we finish eating, we start making our way out of the restaurant. Like so many other times, I feel like I'm being watched. Turning, I see all six sets of eyes on me, following my every step and watching my surroundings. Feeling warm in the pit of my stomach, that sensation began to run down my body to the area between my legs.
One of them notices my reaction, and grins knowingly. Blushing, I sped up to exit the restaurant behind my mom.
Mom and I are walked to our car by the guys, remembering the necklace they got me. Turning around quickly and running right into one of them, I gasped, "Holy cow, where the hell did you come from?"
Coming closer to me, he states, "Been here the entire time, we just want to make sure you get to the car safely. Are you OK?"
"Yes, I just wanted to say Thank you for my necklace, it's really beautiful," I said as I fingered it on my neck.
"You're welcome, it looks perfect on you." Another one says quietly, as he walks over to us.
Reaching the car, we all exchanged hugs. Each of the boys hugs me a little bit longer than I expect, again it's causing me to begin feeling things I probably shouldn't be feeling, about my mom's boyfriend's six sons.
In the following days, I will see them more often at school. I do not have the necklace on, every day they see me, their eyes drop to my neck. I see the smug look that they give, they're also paying more attention to me at school as well, although they have yet to talk to me in school.
The following day, sitting at the table at lunch, Mary says, "Your fan club is starting again."
Mary had jokingly started referring to them as my fan club. I just laugh, and glance up to where they are, and sure enough, they are staring right at me.
Weeks go by, and I see them staring at me, I feel their eyes on me. If I'm not able to put my eyes on them, they don't talk to me, ever. They even dare to stare daggers at any boy that even thinks to talk to me, but yet they can't spare a few words my way, WT H gives? Deciding to figure out what their problem is, I turned their way and walked right up to the table, where they were sitting with a few of their circle. "Hi, is there a reason for your staring, but can't seem to speak a word?" I asked all of them, "Just wondering because you freaking me, and my friends out." I stand there waiting on a response that doesn't come. Throwing up my hands, I turned around to leave, "Good talk boys."
That night after getting out of the shower, the doorbell rang, not knowing who it was, not wanting to miss the door, I open the door with my towel. To my complete shock, on the other side of the door stood all six brothers and their dad. Of course, this would happen to me.
"Do you answer the door practically nude for everyone?" asks a grinning triplet.
"Funny, but no, please come in. Was mom expecting you, Steve? She didn't say when I saw her," asking as I shut the door after they all enter the house, heading to the living room.
"No, this is a bit of a surprise. For you both, I hope, where is your mom?" He asks.
Hearing him asking for her, mom came into the room, and I was making my way out of the room to go get dressed. "I will be back, I need to get something on."
Walking to my room, I let the towel drop as soon as I enter my room. Leaving the door cracked, I head over to the dresser to locate my pajamas. Finding some I like, and putting them on, I head back to the living room with my mom, and Steve is hugging and kissing, obviously happy about something.
"What's going on?" I asked as I enter the room, watching everyone, waiting for a response.
"Honey, Steve asked us to move in with him, and the boys, isn't that exciting?" she says.
Glancing up to meet the eyes of each of them, I instantly warmed at the smile that appeared on their faces.
"Yeah mom, that's great." I say "I take it, you said we would?"
I ask, not wanting the answer because, at that precise moment, I realize I am infatuated with these boys. Now, I am going to be sharing a home with them. I'm going to have a bedroom not far from these guys.
"Yes, I said yes, we would move in. The lease is up on this place in a few months, then we can do it."
Steve looks up, and states, "Nonsense, we can talk to your landlord, I'm sure there is something we can arrange to get you out of your lease early. We can look into it."
As promised, Steve was able to talk to our landlord, they agreed to let us break the lease for a small fee, which he paid happily. The next week is moving day. Let the countdown begin.
