The truth will set you free

Abel's Point of View It wasn't every day that my brother and I were shocked. Especially for the fact that Caine and I are century old vampires. It was unheard of to meet a human with the same color eyes as us. And that was what Niamh certainly was. A human. The moment that my brother and I, twins but not identical, stepped into the tattoo parlor I had a slight feeling that things would take a different turn. I glanced to my brother and sent him my thoughts. Do you find it odd just how different it feels doing this little brother? All Caine did was give me a nod. Ever since our sister had died he wasn't like he used to be. Of course, I hadn't been the same since as well. It'd been just another day for the three of us other then the fact that we were all pure blooded vampires and had opted to go out hunting it didn't seem different. It had all changed so damn quickly that I am unsure if it'd been a dream. I knew that it wasn't the moment that I found myself tackled by the alpha of the silverfox clan. I was pinned to the forest floor, my eyes widening as I looked into the alphas pure black eyes as the beast snarled at me. "Unhand me you beast." I hissed, attempting to get out from under the wolf but acked softly in surprise as the wolf moved it's right paw up to my throat and it used his paw to pin me in place. I heard a thud and turned my attention to my left where my brother was also being pinned by a different wolf of a smaller size. I knew then that the one who had my brother pinned was the beta and that only fueled me to struggle again. If they had my brother and I, certainly they had our baby sister! I couldn't let her be caught, she was still fresh to this world. A baby vampire if you must know. She'd been turned and, then, abandoned not even seconds later. She woke up to this world in face Caine and I. And all it took was one glance from her and I could feel the bond of family forming with her and I knew then that she was special. I looked to Caine with fear in my eyes only to see my own look of fear upon my twins face. We looked back to the creatures who had us pinned. If there hadn't of been a treaty between Werewolves and Vampires, my brother and I would of killed the alpha and his pack. It was not a wise decision, on their end, to have us pinned but nor was it a good idea for my brother and I to kill this pack because this pack of werewolves had no one else and, for that, we didn't go on a rampage. The sound of a twig snapping had all of our attentions drawn to where the sound came from. "Carolina. No!" I managed to wheeze out, seeing our baby sister as she was standing there, trying to control her own beast but, sadly, my words did not reach her ears for she charged the werewolf pinning me down, which sent the wolf flying. Before I could react, before Caine could react even, the alpha and our sister were fighting. We had been so protective of her that we had never taught her how to fight and, for that, I was cursing my stupidity and I could feel it in the link that my brother and I shared due to us being twins that he felt just as stupid, if not more so, because he was the fighter among the two of us. It was during my musing on the matter of why neither my brother nor I taught Carolina to fight that we heard a pain filled whine and then nothing else. I looked around and, then, I saw it. The wolf had turned back to it's human form, a woman with golden locks that fell to just below her naval, gorgeous chocolate brown eyes. The palest skin I have ever seen, and vampires have the palest skin imaginable, but she wasn't hurt. Oh no. She had our sister lifted off the ground by her throat. "Stupid fanger." hissed the she - b***h as she continued digging her fingers into our sisters neck well our sister struggled to get free. There are a lot of major differences between Werewolves and Vampires. Our two species were so vastly different that we all wondered how vampires, at this point, were extinct because of the werewolves. But we all knew why. Maybe not the younger generations of weres and vampires but if you've been around for quite some time you knew the rules and knew the differences so therefore didn't f**k with what you shouldn't. That was another mistake my brother and I had made, we had not taught Carolina the differences between werewolves and vampires. It was our own stupid fault because we were both trying to protect her, to protect our little sister. "i***t. Dog." wheezed Carolina, her Irish accent still strong as ever. The fact of the matter was that Carolina paled in comparison to the wolf. Not only in looks, but in strength and if Caine and I didn't do something soon, the were would kill Carolina and I knew, for a fact, that was something that could not happen. My brother and I didn't understand why, we just felt like Carolina was more important to the world then we were, but we were still important. "Carolina! Be Quiet!" Caine suddenly advised, even with him not pinned any longer, he still had yet to get up because he knew if he did, things would change. We really could not afford to a fight. Of course, our darling little sister didn't reply. To busy holding onto the alpha wolf's wrist, her own nails digging in. I knew if our sister broke the alpha's skin then she would wind up injected the she - b***h with her venom and the wolf would be poisoned. My sister kept her cyan blue eyes upon the woman holding her in the air and I felt like they were having a conversation with their eyes before the alpha hissed and flung my sister away from us. The events that unfolded after that... well the pack ran off before Caine and I could go after them. Hell, we were more worried about Carolina because, when the alpha had tossed her, Carolina wound up being impaled on a tree branch. It was there, in the forest, that we lost her to death. I mean, anyone who gets impaled upon something will surely die and nothing anyone does can truly stop it. Vampires were no different. -- I rapidly blinked my eyes as I came back to the present. Staring at Niamh was truly a wonderous thing but only for the fact that with her being human with those eyes I was beginning to feel like our sister was alive. However, Niamh looked nothing like Carolina had. Especially not with those amounts of tattoos, or the piercings that Niamh had. Add to that, Niamh's hair was pink. It was a couple of hours later that my brother and I left the shop, happier then we thought we could be and I looked to Caine. "We should find out how it could be that a human can have our eye color... don't you agree?" Caine looked at me and shrugged before he climbed into our black car. I sighed because I missed hearing my brother's voice, the only time I heard it is if we spoke telepathically and that only happened when it was an emergency. I climbed into the drivers side of the car, being mindful of the new tattoo, and we drove off. It wasn't a huge town that we lived in, it was medium with a population of a little over five thousand people. Caine and I had been living on the out skirts of town in a run down, abandoned mansion that we had bought and fixed up so it looked brand new. Inside resided our coven, family if you will, that we had accumulated over the years since Carolina died. Well, we weren't a huge family per say. Caine and I were the oldest, but we certainly weren't the leader. Oh no, that was Draven Snow. Caine and I, however, shared the role of second in command. You never really saw either of us without the other and that was fine. Then we had Maya and Micheal who had come to us and were already mated. We arrived at home in under an hour and once inside Caine walked off to do something, whatever it was I had no idea. I was hoping it was to do some thinking, but who knows. I, on the other hand, went to talk to Draven about what Caine and I had experienced today. I stepped up to Draven's office and counted to five before I reached up and I knocked on his door before I waited for a response. "Come in Abel." came the deep voice of our leader. I stepped inside and said, "Hello Boss." He merely looked at me, nodded, then went back to his paperwork. "Boss?" I began, nervous on how to tell him but he did deserve to know. Draven set his pen down and looked up at me before he said, "Yes Abel?" His right eyebrow raising up because I knew he could smell and sense just how truly nervous I was. I cleared my throat before I sighed and I said, "You know how Caine and I went off to get my tattoo and his piercing?" A nod is all I got in reply. "The woman that tattooed me, and pierced him, was mortal. But the odd thing about her... well... her eyes are the same color as ours." Draven kept his eyes on him then he said, "Are you positive it she's a human and not a vampire who can cover her scent?" I nodded quickly before I said, "She didn't act like she knew what we were boss..." Draven sighed softly before he ran his hand through his ear length, slightly wavy, brown hair before he let out a faint curse. "I wish to meet her." was all he said. "You will go back there and bring her here." he then said. I couldn't disobey him so I nodded before I got up and I said, "I'll get Caine and we'll get her here." "And do make it quick Abel." Draven called after me. I nodded and left his office. Now, how could Caine and I get her back to this place? We certainly couldn't tell her, that would be totally against the laws we vampires had. I had to think of something, and quick.
