The reason why

Draven’s POV That first meeting with Niamh had so many questions popping into my head. Where as I could hear her heart beating, it had a rapid beat which wasn’t normal for a human being. Add to that, her eyes were a cyan blue. I didn’t intend on being rude to the poor woman but the truth was that the moment I smelled her and heard her voice I knew only two things. She wasn’t actually human and she was my mate. The moment I had been rude to her was the moment that I felt the bonds forming between her and myself. I already knew that some sort of bond had formed between her and the twins. I knew, once the twins returned from dropping Niamh off, that I would get an ear full from Abel and even though I was the leader of our little coven… I would accept it. I cared for my coven, even called our coven a family, so this wasn’t anything new. While I waited for the twins to get home I walked off to my library to begin my research. I needed to find out what exactly Niamh was before I proceeded with my plans to make her mine. I also had to get in touch with Jamal, the vampire we considered the prince of our kind, to let him know that I had finally found my mate. However I could not tell him that she was different because I knew if I told him then he would try to kill her. Jamal did not like different, he didn’t even like humans, but he put up with them because he knew that if we killed off so many humans then the werewolves, fae, and hybrids would wind up coming after our entire race. Add to that I didn’t wish to be on his s**t list because of it. With a small sigh I shut the door and went over to the book case full of different breeds of creatures. I had every book I could get my hands on that involved any and all races because I liked being knowledgeable. Add to that it helped me when I needed to make a plan of escape. As I looked through the book case I could hear Maya and Micheal having a conversation in their native tongue which had my eyes rolling because I knew what they were talking about. Niamh. It seemed as if my little mate had already had an impact on my family. Now I just needed to find out what she was exactly and then get her to join us. But, until then, I’d research and I’d find out the things she liked and didn’t like. When I heard the front door open up I set the few books I had found on the desk then moved to sit down. I was getting prepared for the ear full I was about to receive and I knew Abel wouldn’t let me down. He never did. I heard the two sets of foot steps coming up the stairs, stop at my study, and then continue on to the door. Before he could knock I called out, “Come in.” The door slid open and in stepped the twins. Although with the way the two men were with each other… I always wondered if they were supposed to be more then just twins. I always felt like they were mates but neither one of them said or did anything to really prove that to me add to that I always kept my mouth shut for fear that I would wind up making them angry at me and I did not want that. Abel stepped into the library and looked at me for a moment before he sighed and went to sit down. “You already know why we’re in here Draven.” spoke Abel. “You were rude to Niamh and that isn’t okay. I know that we’re not supposed to let humans into our lives but Caine and I already consider her our sister. Why were you so rude to her Draven” he then said. I merely gave another sigh, debating on how I should reply, but then I just figured that the truth would be in order. “She is my mate.” I began, I saw the two of them get looks of surprise on their faces, “And that’s not the only thing I’ve figured out.” I then said. “I do not think Niamh is fully human. It’s like she’s a vampire. Especially with those eyes. But her heart beat is way to fast to be a human. I was rude because I was surprised that I found my mate and that she didn’t seem at all human. I need to do some research but, other then that, that is all I have. I know I was rude and I will apologize to her when I get the chance.” Abel hummed faintly before he nodded. “Alright.” he said before he went to get up and he left. I thought he would of given me more Hell. Caine, however, stayed sitting. His eyes stayed upon me and that was eerie considering the fact that he never did say anything. “She told us to tell you that if you desire to summon her again that you can shove your summons straight up your ass.” he said suddenly. Hearing Caine speak for the first time ever had me leaning back in surprise. I couldn’t believe how… deep his voice was. I had always wondered what had made him become a mute. Abel had never told me why they were like they were but to hear Caine speak… it had me wondering if that had anything to do with them meeting Niamh. “Did she?” I asked, finally finding my voice again. Caine nodded before he got up and he moved to follow behind his brother. I exhaled sharply before I lent back in my chair. “Sweet jesus.” I muttered, shaking my head. I knew then that Niamh was certainly the missing piece to our family and I was nervous on how to proceed.
