Slowly, so as not to make a noise and alert Miranda, he rolled onto his front and supported himself on his elbows. The pain was almost too much to bear and he struggled against the wave of nausea sweeping over him. With extreme difficulty, he pushed up with his elbows and raised his legs underneath him until he was resting on his knees, his elbows bearing the bulk of his body weight. He stayed that way for a few moments, sucking in deep breaths, and waiting for the pain to subside sufficiently to get to his feet. Long, pain filled minutes later, the man stood facing the car.
