"What are you thinking about?" Mandy interrupted my thoughts.
"Nothing important. Perhaps his engagement to the Stoneheart Pack heiress explains it. With the two packs joining forces, the pack members naturally support him."
"You seem well-informed," Mandy said cryptically, pouring me a glass of water. "I'm not familiar with the elite circles, but someone at the office mentioned you're connected to the Lockwood Pack. Why didn't you join their company instead?"
"Luna Lockwood was my mother's best friend. After my parents died, she took me in. But now that I'm grown, I don't want to burden them anymore, and K&S is where I can truly achieve my dreams."
