After showering and making sure I no longer smelled of wine or sweat, I emerged in a bathrobe.
Adrian sat on the sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window, talking on the phone. On the bench outside the bathroom door was a complete set of loungewear, and I even noticed light-colored underwear...
My heart warmed with gratitude and embarrassment.
I quickly changed into the new clothes.
Moving quietly, I poured two glasses of water and brought one to Adrian.
He had heard me come out long ago but pretended not to notice, not wanting to pressure me.
Seeing my flushed cheeks, filled with nervousness and shyness that stirred something within him, his Adam's apple bobbed noticeably. "Thank you."
He drank the entire glass in one gulp.
His throat still seemed dry.
