Adrian's POV
I ended my final meeting early, turning to Derek, my Beta, as we walked toward the elevator. "Take a detour. Let's swing by K&S."
Derek chuckled. "The driver's been complaining to me that he needs to get up an hour earlier these days. Now I see why."
I felt the corner of my mouth twitch upward.
"Alpha, should we give the driver a raise?" he asked playfully.
I gave him a sidelong glance. "Do you want one too?"
Derek grinned sheepishly.
He was just teasing, of course. Since my marriage, although I'd become more discreet in public, my temper had improved considerably. Even in dealing with business rivals, I showed more patience than before. That's why he dares joke with me now. In the past, he wouldn't have risked it.
