Chapter 11

547 Words
She is finally free of them, Esmeralda thought as she paced around her kitchen, her nerves growing more with each passing hour. The years apart from her daughter were hard, every time she felt her daughter’s pain, it took the clan to keep her from pulling her back, ending the pain and suffering she faced. She had been all alone, every horror and fear that Esmeralda thought of when she missed her daughter or felt the pain from the council's training. Sick monsters, all that pain, what could have excused that. The searing burns and slices were mimicked on to Esmerelda's body, not to the extent of her daughters but enough to know the amount of suffering that had been inflicted upon her child. The child that had been ripped from her womb before her time, The child that never knew her mother. Esmeralda collapsed on the floor of her kitchen, What did they tell her of me, what does she think of me, how can I ever make up to her. Her body was wracked with sobs, Esmerelda curled up into a ball crying out her pain and loss.  Byorn found his mate on the floor, curled up into a rigid ball, he raced to her, his large frame made it difficult for him to maneuver around the cramped space but he was beside her with no accidents to the items around him. “My love you need to come back to me” Byorn reaching down and shaking her gently, worry covered his rough face. There were fewer gargoyles in the world and even fewer that had mates at all. Byorn chose his mate the day he had found her, swearing to be her stone guardian for the rest of their lives, when she became like this he felt her pain as if it was his own. An episode like this only happened once in their relationship, the day she had seen the prophecy that her daughter would have to live out, but her goddess gave her no warning about how her child would be ripped from her, Byorn had feared that day and this one. The first time she meets her child will be no less of a challenge for her, Byorn thought as he lifted his mate into his arms, carrying her to their room. Laying his soul onto the bed, calling Golalith to her side, the massive beast climbed into their bed and made himself at home daring Byorn to kick him off as he stretched in between them. The beast and Byorn had been warring with each other since the day the two men, Golalith had bitten the gargoyle and it was his mission to get in between his mistress and the gargoyle. The two only came together in times like this when Esmerelda needed them both, in those moments as few of them that there were, the two enemies worked in sync to bring her back to them. This time it was much harder, Esmerelda was broken from the day her child was literally ripped from her, and now she would finally meet that child, “ Looks like we'll be together for a while, old friend” Byorn said looking down at the giant dog, who nodded in agreement as licked his mistress.
