Chapter 26The pod was definitely less spooky with the lights on full. After the encounter with the spirit–spirits, if he counted the faces in the windows–the light was comfort.
Jules knew it was a false comfort. The light didn’t stop the spirits. It still made him feel better as he surveyed the common area with distaste.
The lights showed the mess the previous crew had left behind. It hadn’t only been the boxes and other refuse in the corridor, this whole place was a mess.
“The bots were ordered to stay out,” MAR-A said, standing next to him.
Jules looked up at it. “Ordered? Who ordered them?”
MAR-A lifted empty hands. “Unknown. That detail isn’t in the system. But there is a prohibition in the bot operator command system.”
“What about the other habitation pods? Do they have the same
