Chapter 7

973 Words

Kian called me again, his voice so groveling it was almost pitiful. "I know I messed up. For the sake of all the years we've been together, can we meet up and talk this through privately?" I ended the call and set my phone down, a wave of calm washing over me. From now on, I'd never have to force myself to suffer for the sake of someone else's family, for someone else's mistakes. Kian had lost his stable old job, so he was scrambling to send out resumes everywhere and hunt for a new position.
