I slept at Carmela’s house for the rest of the week. My parents didn’t mind because they knew my friend was sad and that I shouldn’t leave her alone. On Saturday, Carmela needed a few things from the hardware and I volunteered to get it for her. I was about to leave on my bike when Jared arrived at my friend’s house. I smiled as soon as I saw him and said, “Good morning.” Jared didn’t seem to be in a good mood and just grunted before saying “Where are you going?” Kara: “Carmela needed a few things from the hardware. I’m on my way there now.” Jared said “Let’s go,” and turned around to walk back into his pickup truck. That was weird. He didn’t even open the door for me, which he always does. Maybe he’s not just himself today. I ignored it and got on his truck then put on my seatbelt.
