We ended the meeting on a positive note and told Patricio to call me if they needed anything. They understand that we can’t stay for now, but I promised to be back in a week.
Jared let his other pack members walk ahead of us. When it was just the two of us, I was surprised when he said, “Would you like to stay over for dinner?”
I looked at him for a moment before saying, “Sorry, I already committed to having dinner at home. I haven’t seen my family in a while, so I’m sort of making it up to them.”
Jared looked disappointed as he said, “Oh, okay.”
After a few seconds, Jared spoke again and said, “What if I visit you in the city? Maybe we could have dinner and catch up.”
