I had just finished a four-hour surgery, and I was so exhausted. I have been working at the Obsidian Hope Medical Center since I became a doctor, and I decided to become a cardiothoracic surgeon. Professor Maňalac, who was my professor in medical school, is the hospital's current medical director. His father co-owned the hospital with his uncle, who happened to be Brian’s adoptive parents.
When Brian’s parents passed away five years ago, they left their share in the hospital to them. Brian didn’t tell me how wealthy his family was until his parents died, and he inherited their interest in the hospital. I also did not know that Professor Maňalac was his cousin.
