CHAPTER 30 Devon When I walk into my parents’ living room, they’re glued to the television. For a split second, I wonder if a major event has rocked the world and I’ve been oblivious to it on account of having my head way up in the clouds. But as soon as Finn walks in, my father opens his arms, and Finn rushes into them for a hug and kiss. “That Beth Robbins is so watchable,” my mother says, before turning off the TV. It’s not the first time she’s said it so it no longer takes me aback. And she’s right. Beth Robbins is the only reason I ever flick to CNN, because whose brain can handle a constant barrage of bad news like that? “Glass of wine outside?” I nod and follow her, leaving Finn in the safe hands of his granddad.
