Chapter 8 The next morning, Daniel stayed in bed, his night restless, the blanket a crumbled mess on the floor, and the sheets all wrinkled. He’d cried the entire way home from Matthew’s, calling himself all sorts of names under his breath. As he crossed the threshold into his office, sheer mortification walloped him like the middle school quarterback used to. A sucker punch right to the gut. He left everything behind for Matthew to discover the truth. So spooked, he bolted without a second thought and now… He tossed and turned all night, half expecting his phone to ring or chirp as Matthew sought to reach him. Neither happened.
