Chapter 89. Bad feeling

1770 Words
Hunter had a bad feeling, he began to think that this fine-featured woman was nothing more than a deception, if something bad was about to happen she knew more than she was telling him. He moved away, trying to put space between them, he ran with all the energy his body would allow him to make sure the woman he loved was all right. He had recently had a check-up with the gynaecologist and she informed him that everything seemed to be going well. She did warn them that pregnancy would be more difficult for her as a human, the baby would have all sorts of different requirements on her human body, things she would have to adapt to. One of the things she was warned might happen was the fact that she would have more developed senses, like vision and hearing, Hunter had already noticed subtle changes in her body, the way she moved in the dark and the way she was more confident when she moved, as if she was even stronger than she looked. When he got home he noticed that it was strangely quiet. Normally they had as many as twenty employees going around, moving things around or preparing food, but he could feel that only two people were moving around the house, which made him feel more nervous. He did not like the direction the situation was taking. He crept closer, this time he noticed the change in his body, the way his body temperature was rising to new levels, his heart seemed to be stopping on the other side, as if the wolf inside him was breathing deeply because he could handle everything that was happening. He opened the doors, very carefully, the smell of blood permeated his nose. Something terrible had to have happened, he knew that if there had been a m******e, there wouldn't be time to go after everyone, plus wolves healed quickly, but the human he was in love with didn't. If something happened to her, it would be extremely difficult. If anything happened to her it would be extremely difficult for her to take care of herself, plus she would hurt the baby. Then he heard a noise and ran upstairs. The noises came from Andrea Smith's room, the door was ajar, but even so, he ripped it off its hinges and threw it through the air, in the direction of the first floor, the scene before his eyes made him feel bloodthirsty, his cook was half transformed, fighting against her father, who was struggling to protect Andrea with his body. It made him feel proud to have him in the house, and at the same time, his rage began to rise. He was trying to hurt the woman he loved. Without stopping to ask why he did it, at a speed where he barely had time to blink, he lifted her up in the air by the neck. —What are you doing?— he demanded in a tone that left no room for reply. The woman was terrified and furious. She knew what he had done to the wolves of the Garroway pack, knew he could easily dismember her, even breaking her neck was like snapping a twig, it would be nothing to him, but she couldn't find a way to tell him what she was really thinking because the man was too intimidating. He should have done it faster, she thought. Hunter Halland let out a growl so terrifying that it made everyone in the room very afraid, the woman knew she wouldn't survive him, even when she told him what she wanted to know, he would murder her. —WHAT ARE YOU DOING?—Hunter's question was more terrifying, I could see the bloodlust in his eyes. —I'm following orders— the woman answered. Feeling too furious to contain himself he slammed his fist so hard into the wall that it went so close to the woman's head that it shook her from the ground, he knew he wouldn't have much time. —What f*****g orders— she demanded to know. —That matters? You're still going to kill me— that only made him feel angrier. Then the nice guy he had always been turned into a monster, so much power in his body made it difficult to contain the feelings he felt, he caught one of her hands, he squeezed it so hard until every bone in his hand broke, he would never use it again, he had destroyed it. —We can do this the easy way or the hard way— he announced to her, and then as if he could be rational for a few minutes, he leaned close to her ear —Even your mother and sister are part of the pack. Terror appeared for the first time in the woman's eyes. —You wouldn't dare— he challenged. Without warning, he snapped his forearm as if it were nothing more than a pencil breaking. —I will do whatever it takes to find those guilty of putting my family in danger. The woman's pain-filled laughter filled the walls of the room. She proceeded to spit blood in his face. This time Hunter squeezed her shoulder hard enough to let her know that if she continued where she was going, she would end up without a body to protect, he was more than sure what she was thinking about him murdering her, but he didn't think she could take the pain anymore. —I see it in your eyes, you think I wouldn't be able to do anything, I'll tell you a secret— he leaned close to her ear so that she could only hear it —When I killed those men, I loved it. That was still a secret that seemed sad and scary, he had not dared to say anything at all to anyone lest they think he had become a terrifying man, but now it was much more complicated, because the thirst he had for blood was burning in his throat. The woman shivered. —We were wrong about you— a small smile appeared on her face —A faction of us thought you were not strong enough to be the leader of the pack, but you are proving that you can do whatever it takes. A broken chuckle escaped his mouth. At that moment he considered smashing his skull and doing unholy things with his remains as a warning to those who would think of betraying him, he was tired of them thinking he wasn't enough, the wolf inside him wanted blood, he seemed intoxicated by the amount of blood in the house, his pulse had quickened. The noise next to him distracted him momentarily. Harley had driven home after the terrifying sight he had encountered at the company, he had discovered that the werewolves of his pack were being eliminated, from what he could see on security cameras it was mostly women who had committed the evil acts, surely in retaliation for what Hunter had done to the men of the Garroway pack, sensing that something bad was happening at home, he approached the house. He found from the entrance a body path, when he heard noises upstairs his heart filled with excitement, because that meant he was not too late, apparently his brother was very close to becoming an animal, his eyes seemed wild and not focusing on anything, he could see that over his shoulder and at the end was a very scared Andrea and Harold trying to protect her apparently from seeing what was about to happen. —Brother stop— he tried to contain the fury Hunter was feeling. The younger werewolf looked at him very suspiciously. —You don't know what you're saying, you have no idea what she did— he was more than furious, he thought that his brother was putting himself in the employee's point of view, thinking that it was unfair what he had done, he was tired of always being done that to him. —Yes, yes I know, I saw the path of bodies to get here. You don't know the things that have happened, the amount of brothers in our pack that have been killed, we have a serious problem and no, you can't lose your composure now— the way he said it made him feel a different kind of concern, one that would make him reflect at least a little on the situation. —What are you talking about? —There are a lot of Hunter bodies, we have a crisis and we need the alpha in charge, they even invaded the company, they left us a bloody message about an eye for an eye— as the werewolf processed what his brother was giving him, the woman he was holding by the neck stirred. She let out a laugh. —The plan worked. —What are you talking about, b***h? —We wanted her to feel the pain and...I want you to know we did this, because we don't think you deserve to be in charge, brute force is not something we admire. That was shattering for Hunter, always in the shadow of his older brother, he was tempted to kill her at that moment. —Don't do it, do you want Andrea to see that, do you want her to remember you like that— Harley interjected, thinking that the poor pregnant woman was going through too much at the same time, he was afraid she was having a miscarriage because of all these emotions she was having. Hunter nodded, for the first time he wanted to be rational. —You're right, take it away—He proceeded to fracture her other good shoulder so that she could not leave easily, nor run away from Harley as he escorted her to the basement— And I will do what I told you— he announced as a threat. Everyone sensed that she was being irrational, and feared what kind of instinct she had inside her at that moment. Harley was very afraid of what his brother Hunter was doing, so much power seemed too much like he was going crazy. Andrea felt scared, the woman who made her food had tried to pile on her while she was eating, the werewolves had given their lives to protect her, but it was terrifying, it made her feel very worried. Now seeing the sweet man, Hunter being a complete savage, seemed to be a completely different person.
