Chapter 61. Andrea

1408 Words
Andrea Smith was feeling as if the air was getting thinner, the smell of sewage made her stomach churn, even though the beast had disappeared, now she worried, what if it didn't come back, what if she was left all alone, what would she do, how would she get out of here, did it leave her to die? Her breathing had quickened and her heart was wildly pounding against her chest. The air was not entering her lungs, she was starting to hyperventilate, she felt very nervous, she was trying to calm down, but she felt a strong tightness in her chest, she was too scared. She tried to struggle with the restraints, then she felt the rope give way a little. When that happened, she felt a little relieved. She must remember to stay calm, but she was too nervous for that. As soon as the air was too hard to breathe she felt lights start to appear in her vision, everything felt very unreal, her hands were burning, her heart seemed to stop, she felt very sick. Then he felt his blood pressure rising. He was losing consciousness, he began to see figures, dark shadows were rising, then his ears sharpened, he heard the sound of small claws, the paws of rats called his attention. Everything went black after that. Hunter felt that something was wrong with his girl. The tightness in his chest increased, his eyes felt like they were about to pop out of their sockets, his head seemed to throb, as soon as he opened his eyes small white dots of light appeared in his vision, he couldn't feel any worse, his stomach was churning as if he was ready to pull out whatever he had eaten. The ceremony at the lake was much more than he was expecting. It turned out to be an intimate affair, just Harley, Harold and the gray-haired old woman. They carried Hunter as they went to lay him down in the grass, in the same spot in the tree where he had sat to tell the stories of his people to the woman he loved, even though he couldn't speak much because he felt like he wanted to vomit, he felt his ears had been sharpened. —He's too close to that human, that's not good for the race, if he was the leader of the pack they would all be dead," Harold Halland said to his eldest son —anyone would be able to stab him and overthrow him just knowing that his wife is his weak point. —Dad, you mustn't say that, we are talking about my younger brother's life, he is your son, behave yourself— exclaimed the eldest. —What are you talking about? If you respected your brother so much you wouldn't have slept with his wife, you are one of the reasons why she is in danger now, if you had never gone to her house, or removed the security, this would never have happened—Harley felt guilty for his father's words, when all this was over, he would apologise to his younger brother, after all, he had shown to love her in a way he couldn't, this connection was proof that the love between them was completely genuine. —Shut up— the younger wolf growled. He didn't want to remember what he already knew, that Harley was with Andrea, now the thought of security being changed because of his older brother made him furious enough to murder him, he wanted to pull his guts out of his body and hang him upside down as a warning to anyone who came near his wife, he would protect her with his life if necessary. The grandmother was interested in the youngest of the werewolves, he had a pure blood lineage, she was sure that because of the change in the colour of his eyes that there were many more things they didn't know yet, surely he could control the transformation and that would be a change in the pack forever, he should be the one to reign. Two kings cannot exist for the same people, both brothers had too different personalities. She had begun to put the plant of aconite around the werewolf causing him to feel weaker and weaker, she needed to weaken the wolf that lived in his body, in order to rescue the human part of him. He began to prepare a drink mixing different herbs, his grandmother had been the healer of the village, now no one was listening to his family for care, everyone preferred the stupid medical care, but there were things that could not be explained, things beyond what the eyes could reveal and that was the herbs. It would cause hallucinations about the girl's future, but that would allow the wolf to calm down, because he would be able to see his mate, the risk would be that he would see her dead in his visions because it would trigger a tremendous response of revenge or pain, but he was about to die from the pain she felt. So without warning anyone and guarding her fears, she gave him the drink. Hunter began to feel his dizziness disappear, finally his lungs could fill completely, he was happy to be able to breathe normally, but he no longer felt that his body was his, it was a strange sensation, but he saw himself coming out of himself, then he was in the air, he was confused, what was in the woman's drink he wondered? Then as if something was pulling him at high speed, he found himself flying through the town until he reached a very dark place, the smell made him want to vomit, he could hear the rats and raccoons, the water running and the feeling of dampness in the walls, the place was very tight making it difficult to breathe. He started to advance along the path, feeling everything in his body, when he put a lot of force on something with his hands he seemed to go through it as if it was a ghost, he continued through the tunnel hoping to find something, when he saw her, she was tied up and unconscious, she seemed to be uninjured. He tried to reach Andrea and shout but she couldn't seem to hear him. Then he tried to look for something to help her but in this ghostly body he couldn't, he found on the table weapons, knives, locks and even worse hooks, it meant that whoever had her was ready to tear her apart, skin her alive or God knows what kind of things he would be able to do. Hunter felt anger running through his body, he had never been so nervous as he was now, he didn't want anything to happen to him, his ear told him something, something coming from Andrea, he didn't have time to think about it, when he saw George Garroway, he was entering the tunnel, he had a confident attitude and wanted to wipe off his smile with a punch. The werewolf passed by him without even looking at him, that made him think he had an advantage, he lifted the girl's face and examined it, as if he wanted to know that she was lying. —He growled, but the werewolf couldn't hear him. The wolf moved away to sit in the chair sharpening the knives, Hunter felt helpless that he could do nothing. As he prepared to attack it, something called him back to his body, the blow was strong, but his soul clung to the image before him, he wished he could be with Andrea Smith, but the force kept pulling at every opportunity, forcing him back. When he returned to his body, all the pain was gone. —You crazy old woman, you almost killed my son, don't think I'm going to forget it— Harold fought. —If anything happens to her, she will be expelled from the pack— Harley threatened her. —I didn't do anything to him, he just took a drink, that's all, your precious doctor couldn't have done anything for him, because werewolf problems are not solved by human medicine— the woman pointed out. —She's crazy, and if my son doesn't wake up, I'll tear her apart with my claws. —Shut up— was all she could whisper.
