Harley felt the pressure every time he looked out the door and could not find Andrea. The time without her was much more eternal, he had not realized the moment he became dependent on the woman, now he was sorry, but it was too late to distance himself from the situation, he had to face the situation as best he could. He now found himself doing the possible and the impossible. The lawyers had flown in to deal with the situation, after Andrea had made her statement and filed her complaint, the process continued quickly, but not quickly enough. —Mr. Halland, are you following what we tell you?— pointed out one of the lawyers causing him to have to refocus on the boring bureaucracy. It turned out that they had tightened up the hiring system, internal policies were the least of the problems. The thing, it was in the firings his father had done, people had complaints about the way they were treated, they had to go much further, looking for the dark secrets they had, the cameras, performance complaints and anything that could be used in a court of law. The legal path was the hardest to go down. There were all kinds of problems with the lawyers, that fine print, they judged me on the mail I sent, they said it was reckless of me to send that, they thought it was coercive and I could be sued. —I am not here to listen to absurd things— I commented, touching the bridge of my nose —You charge me thousands of dollars per hour and now you are making unfounded comments, I cannot change the e-mail I sent, but you are going to protect this company or I will fire all of you. There was silence in the room. —Mr. Harley, it is true that we are at your service, but don't make everyone's life more complicated and act like the CEO of the company— replied the chief counsel —We are not the cleaning crew, so I ask you to control your impulses. —You're not what? Are you kidding?— Harley let out a humorless laugh —You will be what I ask you to be, that's what you charge me millions a year for, and if you have a problem with that, you better tell me, you write me constantly from other firms, so, if you don't like the way I work, you can walk out the door and I won't hit you on the way out. Again silence reigned in the place, the lawyers were impressed by the way he had spoken to them, normally, he was nice and sweet, but today, he behaved like a completely different man. —You've never been like that before— said the woman in a harassing manner. —And does he have to apologize to you for everything?— Harold Halland exclaimed from the back of the meeting table, he finally had a smile on his face, he hated the bureaucracy of humans, werewolf laws were simpler, but he had to put up with those stupid creatures to keep the pack's money safe —He's the f*****g CEO of the company and they treat him like he was a child, when I ran this place no one would even think of talking to me in such a disrespectful way. —You're not in charge father— Harley commented annoyed, feeling the pressure of being the first born of the family. —I know I'm not in charge, I know I gave up the presidency years ago, but I don't understand why we put up with this woman?— He made a dismissive movement with his hand, to play it down —Besides, I was the one who fired those people, they were garbage for the company, they had no loyalty except with themselves, why keep them as employees? —Excuse me? You think we are just any law firm, we are the best in town, and we have kept the company's prestige intact for many years, even in spite of your interventions that have done nothing but hinder its growth— the woman affirmed. —Without my work, they would have no company to protect, what an absurd woman— he stared at Harley, telling him with his eyes the silent order to murder them all, as the eldest son he only laughed at the absurd things his father thought. —You have two days to solve the mess, I want you to crush him so hard against the courts that he will even have to sell his house to be able to defend himself, and if you are not able to do that, you will lose our account, we will find someone to do the job for you, now you can go— he turned his chair to stare at the wall, listening to the noise of the chairs moving away, he was getting into a lot of trouble because of that woman, now he had no choice but to go forward to solve the situation. George Garroway was upset, it was very clear to him why they wanted the guy in jail or dead, he was a complete i***t, but his mother was the worst part of the matter, the woman simply could not stop talking, she always thought she was right and had a lousy temper. —So, sir...? - exclaimed the plump woman. —Garroway. —Mr. Garroway, we are delighted to receive you in our house and we are sure that with your support we will be able to overcome this terrible obstacle that we have had to live through— the woman could detect the money just by looking out of the corner of her eye, she knew how much a piece of clothing or the money in a person's pocket cost, —It's a pity Mr. Harley's insistence on behaving like a complete i***t. —That's right, the man is obsessed with Andrea, he chases her around the office as if she were a dog in jealousy— that comment pleased the werewolf very much, it was about his moon, he wanted to take away the most precious thing he had and destroy them from the inside. Any possibility of a change of heart must be ended. —The way he said it, the contempt, told him more about the woman than anything that came out of his mouth. —Women today have no dignity of their own, but here's something that interests me, you said you went to her house and found a man in it, what did he look like?— The guy, Chris J. Anderson didn't have the slightest qualms about talking non-stop, from his description it was more than certain that it was Hunter Halland, he needed some more time to make sure everything went well. He stayed in the class of the horrible people, in one of the rooms they had arranged for him. He could hear the two whispering, how they were sure their lives had been arranged, they were planning how much money they would get out of the Halland family, how they could live forever on that amount and speculating how the town would praise them after the whole media show was over. As soon as they fell asleep he left the house to survey the area, his werewolves giving him just enough information to let him know that Hunter had brought the girl to the small clearing. The little bastard had surely told him the story about how his ancestor was made the first werewolf and leader of the pack, but there was more. That little part of the story that no one told anymore, how the wolf shoulder that died fighting with the human, met with the Moon Goddess, she took pity on his sadness and gave him the chance to live again, the problem is that both brothers when they became humans had strong problems, they saw life differently. There were many confrontations since that day, generation, after generation, they fought to obtain the leadership, the stronger the alpha was the further he took the herd and the more the people advanced, it was expected that the person who was left in charge would be the one who would guide them into the future, but since Harold Halland lost his wife, it was just a spiral of pain, just like George's father was. Trust and communication had broken down many years ago. They were two Alphas. Garroway and Halland
