Prince Caspian had me walking with him in circles and yet nothing was said, I followed because in my mind I am thinking he was probably looking for a much safer spot where no eyes could see me. He eventually stopped over at the well which gave me this nostalgic feeling of having to remember what had happened here the last time, I shriek at the thought, I will pay Rebecca back for what she did, I only need time to re-adjust and not make any more trouble for now. Caspian held my gaze for a couple of minutes as I required that he speak so quickly. I looked around my surroundings to be sure I wasn’t been monitored. “I want you to look after the King more closely,” Caspian said and I was thrown off guard, wondering what Wilson was there for in the first place, I was only here because I was forced to be. I gave a cheeky smile as I went on to ask, “The King gets sick often, doesn’t he?” Caspian shrugged as he ran a finger on the bridge of his nose, “I can’t tell you the health situation of the King” Oh… I get it, because he is King an outsider like me shouldn’t be told, then what was the need of wanting me to watch the King closely if I can’t be told what exactly is wrong with him? He now all of a sudden twitches which I was strongly aware he was fine that morning, something doesn’t seem right with the King and it just wasn’t about opium. “I will watch him closely,” I said, I wasn’t exactly putting meaning to those words as I don’t plan on doing such, Sebastian's attitude towards me has to change first before I could think of worrying so much for him, it wasn’t my wish that he dies but if it does happen, who am I to stop fate?. Caspian thanked me but I didn’t get to answer back as a strong smell fought its way through my nose, I immediately turned to see one of the King’s maids, and my mouth spoke loosely, “Poison?” “What did you say?” Caspian asked as I shook my head, telling him I hadn’t uttered a single word. I tried to move away from him so I could go after the girl I had smelt the poison from and thankfully he took the hint. “I shall see you again around the palace?” “I don’t think you will because I will just be here, I am refrained from moving about” I admitted and I know Caspian wanted to ask why but something else got his attention as he left me to go attend to it. I breathed out strongly as I went to search for that girl, why on earth was she smelling like poison she also seemed to be part of the kitchen maids specifically assigned to the King, my instincts tells me she must know something. No way, The King’s food! I dashed through the halls lifting my gown as I head for the King’s chamber, my legs were extremely fast and I wished it could be even faster because I hope it won’t be too late to save the King. ‘Save the King’ I can’t believe I just said that. Either way, I do know he is currently in danger, and with his ills, I don’t think he will be able to fight the poison this time. “Let me through!” I demanded and Wilson still didn’t budge, there was no way he was going to stop me from saving the King. I said it again, I was no Knight that I could save the King, what I was doing was the bare minimum, if he has tasted the food then he will need the doctors to save him and that can’t be me. “The King specifically said….” I didn’t let Wilson finish as I pulled him aside, he had no weight that could match my strength so it was easy. I swiftly pushed open the doors of the King’s room to see that he was almost about to eat the food. I ran to him and smack the spoon out of his hands. “What manner of insolence is this?” Sebastian was furious as he glared at me, he turned over to Wilson who had struggled to get up to his feet, and went to kneel before the King, “I thought I told you that I do not want to see her” “I tried…” Again I cut Wilson short as I raised awareness, “Your food has been poison” I spoke with exasperated breath, still panting from that long run. “I hope you haven’t tasted it, because she poisoned you” I accused and everyone else in the room gasped, for clarity, I had pointed at the girl who I had seen earlier. The maid fell to the ground as she pleaded with King, it wasn’t for her life that she begged for but the fact that I was lying against her. I was in total shock as I know she was lying to the King. “What are you saying?!” I yelled at her, “You poisoned the King’s food, quit lying” “Enough!” Sebastian yelled, he looked over at the maid who was pleading with the King and said to her with a very calm voice, one that I didn’t expect especially since his life was on the line here, “If indeed this food isn’t poisoned you must taste it, if you survive, I shall punish her myself” Sebastian assured and I know well that I wasn’t lying. I was a hundred percent sure I smelt poison or maybe I didn’t The maid tasted all the food and was made to wait to see if the poison will kick in but nothing happened to her. I held my face in shock as I knew I was screwed. “Everybody leaves” The King ordered, as the maids walked sluggishly he yelled at the very top of his voice, “Leave, Now!” and immediately they all scrambled for the door. I knew I wasn’t supposed to leave but still, I wanted to try and see if I could either way but Wilson stopped me even before I could get to the door, shame. The maid who was still on her knees was put out of her misery when she is being told to leave. I watched the look on her face as she passed my side, it wasn’t that of remorse or the fact she hadn’t done it and yes she still smell like the poison, the one Papa use to trade with the Pirates. It was a risky business that comes with a high cost, and just like opium, the roots from which this poison is gotten are also rare, the processing alone took a lot of time but it has been deemed effective. I shall need to have a one-on-one with that girl, right now, I needed to face the King. This was annoying. To think I did this out of worry and now he dare to treat me like this. “I don’t want your hands overlapping the other, separate them,” Sebastian said, this was embarrassing, what will my rivals think of me if they hear that I was now doing punishment such as demeaning as this? My knees hurt badly having to stay on this gravel stone for a long time, my hands ached as well, hence the reason why I needed it to rest. I made a wrong choice and I regretted it. “You don’t have to close your eyes Aurora, I still need them open as I am about to go to bed,” Sebastian said, “If you notice any strange activity while I sleep, please inform me” How oblivious was he? I have been on my knees for the past hours, only had a few rest when he stepped out from his room but it still wasn’t enough to relieve my aching back and feet which hurts so much and now here he was demanding that he needed my eyes. I blame Caspian for this, he is the real cause of all this.
