Sebastian gaze at me with a smug look on his face, he raised his hands to stop Wilson when he wanted to call for more men to protect him, “Let it be Wilson, she isn’t trying to kill me” he said in a languid drawl, setting those beautiful eyes in a roll, "She won't dare" he added sternly.
I smirked at him because oh did I dare, answering back, I said, “You think” it was suicidal that I was doing this but as always I never think things through, the reason why I am stuck here in the first place.
He raised a quizzical brow then relaxed it faster, "Go ahead"
My sword which was still pointing at him, rested on his neck, he looked down at the closeness between his temple and the sword. Wilson was already panicking at the back but he couldn't do anything because he was ordered not to.
"Go ahead!" Sebastian yelled at me, his voice resounding into an echo, his fierce eyes pleading with me, "Kill me" he said weakly, his brows bent into a curve.
I read him which was why I dropped my sword. It wasn't that I couldn't do it, it was that he wanted me to. The King wanted me to end his life which by the look of things was the only thing he wants.
"What is wrong?" He asked, angry that I had surrendered, he took my hand with the sword and placed it back on his neck, "Do it"
"My King! Please stop this madness" Wilson fell to his knees and begged. "My King please..."
"What are you waiting for?! Kill me!" Sebastian continuously held my hands tightly to his neck as I tried to release it but he was unwilling. "If you don't do it, everyone you consider family shall die" he threatened.
I shivered, they were my weak point after all.
In the midst of all this, Queen Mother had burst through the doors, "What is this ruckus I hear is going on?!" She asked, seeing that my sword was still at the King's neck, she charge forward towards me and she struck me violently across my face making my ear ring as I forgot where I was.
"Wilson take the King back to his Chambers" She ordered. "I shall deal with you later," Queen Mother said directly at me.
Queen Mother, the King, and everyone else that were in the room with me all left. I didn’t want to sit around and wonder how Queen Mother plans on doing with me which was why I needed to leave before dusk.
I went to the old chapel as Jamil's note had said and waited there for a while, there was a bit of turbulence due to my disappearance. I was starting to get anxious as neither Alex nor Jamil was here as they claim they would, it was only a matter of time before I get caught.
I peeped through the broken glass window at the chapel and I saw hefty men brandishing their swords, each holding a lamp as they went in search of me. My heart raced to a hundred as I raised my head above to ceiling, there was a small statue of Jesus being hung on a cross.
Never have I believed in the existence of God but at this moment, I closed my eyes as I have seen others do and said a short prayer, “Please help me” Right that moment I heard a whistling sound.
I quickly turned to see Alex holding a rifle in one hand and a bundle of rope in the other, “Where you just praying?” She asked setting her body to a pose, her head arching to the side as she smiled. I nodded my head at her, looking back up to Jesus and then back to her, “And he answered” I said with a smile, as my heart beamed with hope.
“Well, we need to leave. We don’t have much time” Alex said as she checked the Chapel door to see if it was free. “Jamil is over at the fence, the Palace has so many escape routes, so loose”
With that, she led the way while I followed behind her, everly prepared to use the rifle in her hand in case things go south.
“What did you do that they all want to kill you? Assuming Jamil didn’t inform me you were in danger I wonder what would have happened” Alex said as she jumped into a bush, I followed, thinking deeply of a proper way to explain that I raised a sword at the King, foolish me. “Go on, tell me”
Alex threw the rope she had in her hand over the fence, “Jamil” she called, Alex pulled the rope again so she knows it is being held on tightly, “Tie this around your waist” she said to me.
“What about you?” I asked utterly worried as there was only one rope and the men had already gotten to the Chapel.
“I will be close behind you, quick you must hurry,” She said taking a few steps back, calculating how high the fence was, and grinned, she crack her neck on both sides ran quickly, and caught on to the fence before pulling herself up, “Aurora what are you waiting for? Hurry!”
Her loud call made some of the men after me turn their direction towards us, I quickly climbed on the fence with the rope tied around my waist and jumped over to the other side.
“Over there!” One of the guards had alerted the others, the three of us took to our heels and ran, following different directions so that none of us could be easily caught.
I took the shorter route to the cottage as I was the one they were after, when I got there Papa and the rest of the gang were seated holding their breath for our safe return. On seeing me, Papa had jumped but he soon maintained composure.
“We all need to leave, NOW!” I said with an exasperated breath. My eyes shifted to that betrayer, “Papa what is he doing here?” I asked angrily when I saw Pythagoras.
“We let him back in, Pyth is family,” Papa said as he tapped his shoulder, “Go apologise to your sister”
“Don’t come near me you traitor” I shifted away as he came closer. I eyed him surreptitiously, “How many gold coins were you given? Was it worth it?” I asked.
“A lot” Pythagoras admitted as my anger suffice.
“Come over here you big man” I laughed, Pythagoras lifted me with ease into a warm embrace. “Jamil and Alex will soon be here, shall we wait?”
“They aren’t coming over here, they shall meet us at the dork, we need to burn the cottage down so there won’t be traces left. Pythagoras and you will stick as a team, I shall move along with the others, make sure you get there, I want no excuses, we must leave the Kingdom before morning” Papa articulated and we all set off.
Pythagoras and I got to the dork as instructed and we paid the fare to the Captain who was already irritated by our lack of coordination, can you believe him? The amount he is charging for this journey was ten times the original price and he still carried a few passengers along, such a greedy old fart.
Alex was next to get to the dork followed by Papa and the others, the only person we were waiting for was Jamil, he hasn’t gotten here since and this was already a long wait, the Captain was on my nerves with his constant complaints.
I saw Jamil coming from afar and we all sigh out of relief until we saw the men coming behind him along with Caspian.
“They have found us” I announced.
