I walked down into the dining room to see everyone seated, except Grandma. Surprisingly she wasn't back from her room. My heart palpitated as I thought of what might have happened to her, but then I stopped when I remembered that I wasn't in Grandma's place anymore. In the Kingston Mansion there were enough maids to keep an eye on Grandma and alert the family even if she just coughed – it was one of the reasons my mother was so adamant on ensuring that Grandma didn't leave.
