Judas sat up quickly and cried out in pain. The Red Spear had punched a great big hole through his new coat, and he was miffed – mightily. He was covered in coal dust, and steam had turned his face grey. The red glow from the open mouth of the engine’s boiler illuminated the cabin, and Judas used it to check himself for any other wounds to himself or his wardrobe. He was happy to find that he was unharmed, but he had been sartorially savaged. There was no way over the coal truck while the train was still in the tunnel, so he had five minutes to get himself sorted out. He thought that he was going to run out of platform and lose the Captain. One of the fairies must have given him a boost. Judas would make sure that he remembered that kindness and repay him after the Captain had been dealt
