Chapter 21 – Party time, Part 1 Ivy’s POV Jasp had come home extremely giddy this evening and I wondered if what Jaser had said was true. He disappeared a lot and I had wondered if he had found another wolf in the woodlands, but because of his bond to me he kept coming back. But the fear that I would one day lose him was huge. You won’t. My conscience said to me, and I smiled, hoping it was true. There was something about Jasp, I wanted, no, needed him around forever. Even though I knew wolves died a lot earlier than humans, a lot earlier than I had thought. I was a little angry at Jasper for telling me that information but also impressed that he knew all about wolves. I would defiantly have to ask him more things and maybe introduce them to each other. I shook my head, remembering that tonight was about seeing if they were even separate entities. I looked over at Jasper who was going around the house, shadowing a different person constantly, as if he was overseeing preparations for tonight. He was just as excited as me and it made me smile. Tracker had given me the idea of adding some of Jasp’s favourite foods to the buffet table so he would stay out of trouble and mum had agreed. I saw him eyeing the food and then looking at me, doing silent yaps, hoping I would sneak him some, but I kept refusing, and he kept sulking, going back to overseeing preparations. I started getting ready in the early afternoon, showering and washing out my braids. I would be typing my brads up into space buns, leaving a few strands hanging out at the front and back. I got dressed into my party clothes, a flowery teal and pink off the shoulder top with flowing sleeves that puffed out when I danced, paired with a long flowing pink skirt that touched my ankles. Because my birthday was in October, it was quite chilly, so I put on teal boots that had glittery pink flowers on them. I knew it would be warm inside, but I wanted to be prepared in case I needed to go outside for any reason. Jesse was meeting me here so we could travel together with Jasp and my parents. My parents had party bags (mostly consisting of small bottles of alcohol and a few silly gifts, some more presents from friends that I wanted to open in front of them and also my cake which was a large, three-tiered purple cake with pink flowers all over it. I loved flowers and nature, so it was perfect. My dad had wanted to keep it a secret, but my mum wanted my input into it, so the surprise was the candles. Dad was adamant something needed to be a surprise and I had agreed, laughing. As the afternoon grew darker, my parents were ready and dressed and Jasper had been brushed, much to his disdain. Jesse had arrived and we had been sat in the living room drinking mimosa, which were basically just champagne and orange juice, although mum had replaced the champagne with a lower-alcohol quantity, sparkling wine. I was wondering why my parents weren’t loading the car, and wondered where my father was, when there was a knock at the door. “Ivy, can you get that please?” My mother shouted from the kitchen, and I was confused, we weren’t expecting anyone else. I answered the door, and my father was stood in a tuxedo at the door. “I have a car for Miss Ivy Lewis.” He said, trying to suppress laughter. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow and looked around him to see a white limousine. I looked between him, the car, Jesse and now my mum, who had joined us with a huge smile on her face. My mouth was slowly opening wide as I realised, they were for real. I started screeching excitedly and Jesse joined in. Suddenly, we all stopped as Jasp had started howling. He stopped and tilted his head and we all burst out laughing. Trackers POV I’d already arrived at the party, there were around 30 people already here. Some people from school waved, recognising me. I couldn’t see Ivy or Jasper yet though. I was in a pretty bad mood. My mate was turning 18 in a few weeks and even though she was underage she knew I was her mate; she had scented me out a year before but didn’t believe me. I knew she was going to try and reject me at her birthday party very soon. I wanted to help Jasper out, he was my best friend, but my mind was absolutely not solely on this drama tonight. I sighed, heading to the bar to get a drink while they arrived. Jaspers POV Tracker seemed really off tonight, and I just hope he had remembered the things we needed to do. Ivy’s mum had opted to drive me to the party, not thinking it was appropriate for a wolf to be in the limousine. I didn’t mind though, in true pet dog fashion, I had my head out of the window with my tongue lolling out of my mouth. I loved the feeling of the wind on my face. I knew we would be arriving first so I could get the first part of my plan out of the way. When we arrived, Ivy’s mum shouted for me to be good, but Tracker arrived and said he’d look after me. I followed him to his bike, grabbed my clothes in my jaw and ran for a secure space to transform and get dressed, knowing Ivy would be arriving any minute. I wanted to be there to greet her. I had managed to get her a small gift that I had made, with Tracker’s help. I put my piercings back in and quickly gelled my hair back. I made myself presentable, making sure my shirt wasn’t too crinkled and it was tucked in. After I was presentable, I went to the front of the venue to wait for Ivy’s arrival. She arrived a few minutes after, and she got out of the car laughing and joking with Jesse and before she saw me, she went around to her father and gave him a massive hug as he got out of the car. I couldn’t hear what they were saying but I knew she was extremely happy. She saw me and smiled but was seemingly looking for someone else. “Looking for Jasper?” I asked. She looked at me, but it wasn’t concern on her face. She seemed to be looking into my soul. “Yeah, have you seen him?” Although her voice was steady, it raised a few octaves in the end. “He’s with Tracker. He took him inside. Can I give you your present?” She seemed taken aback at my subject change, but I did see the hint of a smile. She nodded. I handed her the present, which was wrapped with purple paper with moons on it. Tracker had got it for me and his was wrapped in the same paper. She tore it open like she did her presents at Christmas. She might be 18 but she hadn’t changed from being a child. “Oh Jasper…” She looked at me and I could see the surprise and love in her eyes. Tracker had been teaching me for months how to carve wood. The gift was a keyring I had made of Jasper, well, myself. I think I had done quite well considering I had only seen myself in mirrors a few times or rivers. “It's beautiful. I didn’t know you had seen Jasp that much.” I shrugged. “Tracker helped.” I smiled and saw her bite her lip as if she wanted to say something. “Everything OK?” She smiled but didn’t say anything. “Come on, let's go ad enjoy the party. I want to show Jasp his face on the keyring. She laughed and dragged me into the party, but it didn’t go unnoticed that she shot a look to Jesse.
