Chapter 4 – Home time. Jaspers POV Ivy had ignored me for the rest of the day. Mr Judge had signed me up for classes. We had managed to get Tracker's mother to sign the paperwork I needed, saying I was a cousin from out of town who would be staying with Tracker. That way, if anything happened, or I needed permission, Tracker could get our things sorted at the same time, plus it meant I had a permanent address whilst I stayed with Ivy in my wolf form. At least she still liked me in wolf form. I kept trying to get her attention in class, but she was ignoring me, even when I was throwing paper at the back of her head. I swore I heard Tracker chuckling. Which was nice because at least he was smiling, something he barely did. At least I was making one friend happy by this. The bell to signify the end of the school day finally came, and I lagged back, hoping to talk to Ivy. It would make things so much easier if she just recognised who I was. Then I wouldn’t have to act so stupid in front of her or hide things from her. She walked out of school, and I went to chase after her when Tracker grabbed my jacket. “You need to transform back, don’t bother trying to tell her things, she won’t understand.” Tracker said, his grimace back on his face. “But Ivy is different.” I whined, trying to pull out of his grasp. He shook his head. “Just because she’s taken care of you doesn’t mean she is different. They don’t ever believe anything that they can’t definitively prove, they don’t believe in magic or anything that they didn’t create. They are extremely negative and self-absorbed beings. Honestly, don’t waste your time.” I looked at him hard. Did he genuinely believe that? “So, what do you suggest I do?” I snarled, crossing my arms over my chest. He dragged me suddenly out of the back entrance to the building. “Head into the woods, leave your clothes, transform into your wolf and catch up to Ivy there.” He said, pointing to a tree on the outskirt of the woods. “Tomorrow I'll leave a new set of clothes there, so you can change before school starts.” I rolled my eyes and did as he said. As soon as I had transformed, he picked up my clothes from today and waved by before heading into the woods by himself. Ivys POV Where was Jasper? I was so angry that I needed him. Not that stupid new boy who says his name is Jasper. I was stomping home in the hope that my Jasper was at home with mum. I wasn’t far from my garden when Jasper came bounding over to me. I squealed and ran to hug him. The wolf happily greeted me on his back legs and placed his nose over my shoulder. It was unreal how big he had got and how much bigger he would get. “I am so happy to see you!” I said through his fur, but then I remember I was mad at him too! “Where were you today?!” I scolded, causing him to hop back down onto four legs. He looked at me with sad eyes and whined. “Any excuse” I said, with a huff. Obviously, I had no idea what he said, but he seemed to have an answer. Suddenly he was happy again, his ears were up, and his tongue hung out of his mouth happily. “Come on, I want to fill you in on this douche I met today!” Jaspers POV With those words, my ears drooped. She really didn’t like me. But all I had done was call Jesse an i***t, which Ivy had definitely done before. Why was it OK for her to do it? I huffed and walked home with her. “He came in as if he owned the place!” She ranted. Had I? I’m pretty sure I have only spoken to a few people and kept my mouth shut. “Everyone likes him, even Jesse and he called her an i***t. Can you believe it? She thinks hes hot…” She was stomping now, extremely angry. I let out a growl, causing her to smile, but I didn’t agree with her. I was mad that Jesse found me hot. Then a strange feeling went through my body. I only wanted Ivy to think that. Weird, right? We finally got home, and Ivy was still ranting about how I had apparently won everyone over, especially Tracker who, in a year of knowing her, hadn’t smiled once, but today he was all smiles over “new” Jasper. And yes, that is what she called me, air quotes and all. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. I hadn’t done any of the things she was accusing me of, but she was adamant about it all. It made me mad, and Onyx also kept growling. “What on earth has got your back up sweetheart?” Ivy’s dad asked when she got in and the story started all over again. I rolled up under the table where the family was now seated, drinking coffee, and I drifted off to sleep, dreaming of finally being able to be a human again.
