Elena’s pov The iron door of the border security shelter clanged shut behind us, the sound echoing in the small, musty space. Relief washed over me, momentarily easing the throbbing behind my eyes. We had almost been attacked on our way to see the old woman. My heart pounded uneasily as I wondered what would have been our fate if we continued the journey. "I still don't understand, Elena," Lucas said, pacing the cramped confines. His brow was furrowed, his dark eyes filled with a mixture of concern and frustration.
