AMAL I don’t know what I expect when I enter my house. Maybe I expect to see many women gathered around the casket, maybe I expect to see Aasim standing on the little stairs he always used to stand on and watch everything with a blank expression. The house is nothing like I thought it would be. It’s quiet and dimly lit by depressing white tube lights. It’s just the way it always was.  Except, when my gaze lands on the door to Baba’s room, I think to myself, everything is the same, but a soul has been taken from in there. My father’s soul.
