After using the outhouse they traipsed upstairs, except for Ryan. Danae and Mallory each got one of the beds while Callum used the bedroll and Brodie the blankets. Mallory felt like she’d no sooner fallen asleep than Ryan was waking her. Stretching, she stumbled out of bed. “What time is it?” “We have twenty minutes to get ready to return,” Ryan said. “That’s heaps,” Brodie said. “Oww. Or it would be if I had some light to see what I’m doing.” Mallory could barely see the shadowy figures and shapes in the room from the moonlight coming in the window. “Let me try something.” She picked up the wand she’d set beside her bed before going to sleep and used the flame spell to light the candle.
