SONG FOR THIS CHAPTER:
TO THE BONE-PAMUNGKAS
CHAPTER FOURTY-SIX
ELLORA
I took a heavy breath at Cecilia, our church make-up artist finished doing her magic to me.
I took a heavy breath as I am looking at myself in my bedroom mirror.
I took a heavy breath as I imagined how this night going to end.
I am wearing the black shining floor-length dress with a very high slit sitting on my right legs. It has a heart shaped tube top that presses my boobs bigger. I matched with a pair of black stilettos, Cecilia put some smoky make-up on me as she said. She did my hair down but with a wavy curl. And I love how I looked tonight.
This is the first time I ever dressed up something like this fancy. And I love it. It looks like I am a different person wearing a different woman’s dress or even identity.
I looked like my Mother.
Yes, I remember her wearing something like this in one of her mixed tape that Papa hide from me.
She has this black jet hair, just like mine.
A pale white skin, just like mine.
I am lot like her, no matter how Papa deny it.
“You are so beautiful, Ellora.” Cecilia compliments as I stood up in my vanity mirror.
“Thank you so much, Cece.”
“Black looks good on you, and so the fierce look.” She smiled.
I turn to look at myself in the mirror one last time “It does.” She’s right, looking like a fearless woman suits me.
I heard the doorbell rings from downstairs.
“I think it’s him.”
“You’re going to take his breath away.” She chuckles.
“You think?” my smile grew bigger.
“You will.” She smiled sweetly “Now get downstairs, you don’t want your Papa roasting him right now, don’t you?”
We both laughed as she fixed my hair one last time.
Honestly, I know Papa and Cecilia had these mutual feelings with each other, but the two of them is too stubborn to recognized what both of them have.
Cecilia, just like Papa is a single mother of two beautiful kids. Lucas and Amelie.
Her husband died four years ago in war.
It’s not a bad idea, that Papa will start to date again. It is fine by me. as long as the woman has good intention towards him and will make Papa so happy.
And I see that in Cecilia.
I sighed and closed my eyes in the top of our stairs before I even took a step downstairs. I have to gain so much confidence wearing this dress, because I am not used to wearing this kind of dress at all.
I just hope James will love this, just like what Cecilia said.
I took a step down, and Papa is looking at me with a tear in his eyes.
Then I see it, he recognized the similarity between me and my Mother. He just keeps on denying it to me or much more to himself.
James is standing in our door, looking at me with a smile on his face. He does love this.
James stride in my direction and gave me a coquette of white roses.
How come I expected him to give me a Black Dahlia when I didn’t even tell him that is my favorite. He didn’t about the Dahlia, so maybe he just pick me a white rose. Which is also beautiful.
“You look beautiful and stunning.” He said, smiling.
I chuckle “Thank you. You look stunning yourself too.”
I turn around to hug Papa, he kissed the top of my head “You know the rules, be home at 12 midnight.”
I nods “I will, Papa.”
He smiled and cupped my face “My little angel is not my baby girl anymore.”
I chuckle “I still am, and always will.”
He kissed the top of my head again as I looked at Cecilia smiling at us too.
Papa sighed and walk to James direction “12 midnight, Butler.”
James nods “I will get her home by then, Reverend.”
Papa points his finger on James “Do not touch her anywhere.”
James nod and suppressing his chuckle and put his hands up in surrender “I will, Reverend.”
“We better go.” I hold James’ arms trying to get him out of the house. I kissed Papa in the cheeks “Goodbye, Papa.”
“Be careful.” He said and I just nods.
As soon as I stepped out of our door, I was immediately greeted by a very slick black limousine waiting for us outside.
James put his hands on the back of my waist to guide me on his limousine “Is this where we ride on our way to our prom night?”
He chuckles “It is.”
His driver opens up the passenger door for us.
“Wow.” I said breathlessly, feels like I am in some Disney movie or some sort of fantasy movies.
“Only the best for my Ellora.” He whispered and I snap my head on him.
My Ellora, he said.
And these thousands of feelings start to burst inside me. A never-ending trail of butterflies inside my stomach. He called me his.
The drive towards the school gym aren’t boring because James made sure that I am entertained. We both talked about everything and even his plan to be drafted in NFL this school year. For a moment, I want to slip my plans in front of him, but I need to keep it a secret for everyone for it to remained that way.
When the car stops in front of the gymnasium, James gave me a black masquerade mask inside a black box. Off course, he told me he will make me some customized mask for the school prom theme tonight. It matched my outfit.
So far, the night is perfect and magical.
I couldn’t even ask for more.
He was the one to put the mask in me as his hands brushing along with my skin, and all I can feel is goosebumps all over me.
“Now, you are ready.” He growls behind me.
I turn around too looked at him and he’s also wearing his masked matching mine.
I smiled at him as he offered me his hands, his driver opens the door for us, and both of us hop off the limousine.
There’re so many people looking at our direction.
Off course they would recognize James he was built for fame. I wonder if they recognized me?
I just hope they won’t.
I want to have a normal night tonight. Without judgements and in the shadow of the town’s Reverend.
As soon as we are in front of the door, James hold my hands tightly as he put it around his.
“Don’t get nervous, I won’t bite.”
I chuckles “I know you aren’t.”
Then he chuckles differently and I looked at him. I wanted to asked him why he chose to be my prom date but once again I am in trance of magic when the door opens for us.
The gym was set up like a medieval party, and it feels like and looks like magic.
