SONG FOR THIS CHAPTER: ONLY HOPE-MANDY MOORE CHAPTER SIX ELLORA Ronan went missing. It still didn't sync with my mind even though Mrs. Hawthorne was screaming inside the church, yelling that her son is missing. At first the people were surprised, but when they saw the horror face of Mr. Hawthorne while ordering his gods to find Ronan, the people inside the church soon realized how serious the situation was. But not me, I know Ronan is just wasting time. I also didn’t notice how many hours he was missing because my attention was already on James. The whole town moved to find him, searching the entire town of Nashville. The formerly quiet Nashville, in an instant become noisy and filled with light. It was late at night, but none of them saw Ronan. The crowd of policemen waiting outside with Mr. and Mrs. Hawthorne, while Mrs. Hawthorne in despair, Traces on the faces of Mr. Hawthorne that he too is worried a lot about his son, but he tries to be tough for his wife. I remember then, or let's say I try to remember what happened earlier in the church, since Dad criticized Ronan's father, Ronan stood up. It is not new to our knowledge that our family does not get along because of each other's political and religious beliefs. It wasn't before us that every week, her Dad heard a sermon from Papa. I know that Ronan is hurt by the words thrown at his Dad, but what can I do that time. I'm just a 10 -year -old girl who knows nothing in the world but its beauty. I know that Ronan will just breathe at that time, I even remember how he smiled at me before he came out of the church door, before he went missing. But Ronan never came back. And I still feel guilty, because I saw him leave but I didn't even wait for him to come back because my attention was focused on James. Ronan, became my secret friend. Secret because I know I'm not allowed to be friends with him, Papa told me so. He became a good friend for three months. Every night we talked using our blackboards and whiteboards in front of each other's windows. When we were at school, he always took Demi and me in their circle, after that we were no longer Demi's outcasts. I still can’t believe that he’s missing. I know tomorrow he will come knocking on their door. I know by tomorrow, I will see the smile of my friend at me. He can’t be missing. “The police said he might’ve run away.” Papa said behind me, I didn’t hear him entered my room as I am busy looking out my bedroom window. “He can’t run away.” I told him as a matter of fact kind of way. “How can you know that he didn’t?” “He’s just 10-year-old like me, Papa. He’s too young to think such things. And his parents love him, so there’s no way he will run away.” I defend him. I just know that he wouldn’t run away. Papa sighed “And I think he’s the one who trashed the garden, Ellora.” I snapped my head into his. “He’s my friend, Papa. He knows how I love my garden. He wouldn’t do that kind of things to me.” When we came home that afternoon, I saw the garden, my garden already trashed. But never in the spot of my mind thinks that it’s Ronan’s doing. He knows how I feel about the Black Dahlia, he knows the meaning of the flower to me. “Didn’t I say that you should stay away from him?” Papa level at my height, holding my shoulders tenderly. I nod “Yes, Papa.” “How come you’ve become his friend now?” “His nice, Papa.” I look at the window again and saw Mrs. Hawthorne frantically crying as the police leaving the front of their house. “He didn’t deserve this.” I told Papa sadly. Papa nods and kissed the top of my head “He didn’t, sweetheart. He didn’t.” "I am sure Ronan will come home, Papa. You'll see." I smiled at him full of hope, I just know that Ronan will come home any time soon. Until that time never come.
