My shift in the suite was quickly coming to a close for the night. I head to the kitchen to find Kaia. I was hoping she could shed some light onto what exactly was going on between me and Dane. As I round the corner we collied. Both of us hit the ground while trying to grab each other for balance. Kaia and I sit on the ground laughing for a moment before we collect ourselves. She always brings out my inner child. We help each other stand and both head for the maroon doors.
“Leaving so soon?” I hear a deep voice emerging from the largest bedroom to my right.
There I stood frozen again, unable to turn around. Kaia puts her hands on both my shoulders giving me a quick spin around to face the voice.
“Thank you for your excellent service today Kai, can I speak with Miss Emmaline alone for a few moments?” He asked as though she had the ability to tell him no which we all knew wasn’t true. She turned me briefly to face her,
“I gotta head over to my moms anyways to make sure she has everything she needs for Kaiden’s birthday party.” She kisses my cheek as she whispers in my ear “Don’t worry if you need me I’ll know.” She winked as she walked out the double doors.
I turned and locked eyes with the towering specimen in front of me. His pale blue eyes were gleaming in the evening lighting. The tingles I felt earlier were back in full force this time taking over my whole body. He confidently took ahold of my right hand with his and brought it to his lips. I could feel his pillow soft lips gently paint a warm kiss on the back of my hand. I felt like I was going to explode. I shifted my stance feeling the heat travel directly to my core.
“Can I take you to dinner tomorrow night? We can go anywhere you’d like, I’d just like to see you outside of this setting.” He asked never breaking his gaze. Normally I would come up with some fake excuse to avoid mixing business with pleasure, but I couldn’t resist him.
“Well, tomorrow night is Kaia’s brothers 6th birthday party and I promised to be there, you could join me if wanted.” I didn’t think he’d accept an invitation to a child’s birthday party but much to my surprise he readily accepted.
“Will there be cake? I never could resist a good slice of cake,” he chuckled as I let out a little snort like laugh. Really flattering Em, damn.
“I’m sure there will be all kinds of good things to eat, Kaia’s mom is an amazing cook.” She had made me many dinners after long shifts at the hotel and I was always thankful for a home cooked meal.
“I can’t wait,” he replied biting his lower lip while looking at my mouth. I hadn’t realized I had been doing the same.
“Should I pick you up at your place?”
“No I can meet you here at the hotel it’s on the way to the King’s and I don’t live too far.”
He nodded in agreement as he reached past me to open the door behind me.
“Until tomorrow, Emmaline.”
I did my best to exit without stumbling out like a drunken fool. He made me feel so many things I couldn’t describe them if I tried. I walked to the employee elevator in a complete daze. I already missed Dane’s touch now that I wouldn’t have access to it until tomorrow. How was this happening so fast? I only just met him. How could he have this hold over me already?
The farther down the elevator takes me the deeper the pit in my stomach feels. I almost forgot, I have to meet with Stephan now. I let out a big sigh as I reach the floor of his office. Here we go again.
Stephan would not take no as an answer. He pestered me almost daily about taking me out and showing me a ‘good time’. Me practically hurling every time he looked at me was not my idea of a ‘good time’. He would find an excuse about once a month to review my performance, in reality he was looking for any excuse to get me alone in his office. He never tried anything physical but I could hear the lust dripping from his voice when he spoke.
“There she is!” He exclaimed as I quietly knocked before entering his bleak office.
“Emma, babe, did the royals treat you well? They have quite the reputation.” He snickered taking a swig from the flask on his desk. Stephan plus alcohol was not a combination I wanted to be around for long.
“They were great, no problems, am I good to go I need to head home I have plans with my neighbor?” I didn’t have plans with my anyone but I lied in hopes he would let me leave.
“Hold up don’t rush outta here I wanna ask you somethin’” I could hear his voice slur a little on those tricky s’s. He closed the gap between us and pinned me to the wall of his office. His hot breath on my neck made my skin crawl. He slowly began tracing the outline of my face with his finger causing goosebumps to raise across my neck. He gently touched the newly raised surfaces along my neckline.
