Talk.

*Emmaline’s POV*

“Who were you talking too?” I ask as he takes my bag off my shoulder and slings it over his.

“Your neighbor. You tend to surround yourself with wolves, huh?” He laughed.

“What’s that mean?” I ask genuinely confused.

“Your best friend, your mate, your neighbor? For a human you must have a natural pack instinct.” He smiled with pride.

“Huh? Colby is a wolf too? Is everybody a wolf? What the hell! Here I am just a pathetic human. Why me?”

I’m so frustrated.

Why all this now? I just turned 21 six months ago and ask of a sudden my whole life has been flipped upside down. There’s a whole world I was oblivious to even though it was right there in front of my face the whole time.

“No not everyone is a wolf babe. We’re a relatively secretive society so it’s not abnormal that you didn’t have any clue we were out here. And you are absolutely not pathetic.” Danes words didn’t make me feel any better. Thankfully being so close to him made a relative calmness flood my body.

Lucifer was sleeping soundly as I cradled him walking towards the stairs.

“So how am I getting into the hotel without anyone seeing me, especially Stephan?” I ask as we defend the stairs.

“Emmitt has it covered. He’s going to pause the live video as I take you through the back entrance of the hotel. From there we will take the service elevator straight to the suite floor. Easy enough.” He seemed to be pretty confident and so far he hadn’t given me a reason not to trust him.

As we reach his SUV parked out front he walks past me to open the back door. I gingerly sit Lucifer in the back seat on top of an extremely soft looking blanket. He then opens the passenger door as I slowly close the back trying not to wake up my sleepy cat. I slide in and he takes my shoulder buckle and reaches across my body to buckle me in. Feeling him so close sent immediate heat to my core. Even him buckling me in like a toddler was sexy.

“I do have hands you know?” I tease.

He leaned in close to whisper in my ear as he tucked a loose piece of hair behind my ear.

“I just wanted to make sure my Queen was safe.” He then planted the softest kiss on my lips.

I can’t help but pursue his kiss further. I lean in and wrap my hand around his neck pulling him closer. He eagerly reciprocated my advances and began to run his huge hand up my thigh as if he could feel were my heat was radiating from.

He pulls back leaving me breathless and wanting more.

“Let’s get out of here before we put on a show for everyone in your apartment building.” He said with his eyes swirling back to their magnificent blue.

The drive was short and mainly consisted of hand holding and small talk about what the palace looked like. From Dane’s description, it seemed magical. The Soleil Territory was just a few hours south of Alpine Falls but I had never seen this castle he was referring to. He told me it was deep in a wooded area shrouded by huge lush pine trees making it undetectable by land and air. Concealing the palace was a way to protect the royal family as well as to keep the pack safe. Dane’s entire pack resided within the Royal compound as he called it. He described it as about a 5 mile by 5 mile square area of land heavily fortified and guarded around the clock. In the middle was the royal Palace atop a small hill surrounded by lush forest. On its outskirts we’re the various homes of different pack members. Each member is given a home as a wedding present from the Royal family. He says this helps ensure pack stability but I think he’s just has the most generous loving soul. I can tell he truly cares for his entire pack.

As we reach the hotel, Dane pulls around to the back entrance and sits quietly with his eyes glazed over for a moment.

“Ok we’re ready.”

He gets out and comes to my side to open the door. He leans in to undo my buckle and grabs me at the waist to help me down. I get to the back and grab Lucifer who hadn’t moved the entire car ride. Dane grabbed my bag and put his hand in the small of my back guiding me through the doorway. I noticed one of his burly guards had momentarily left his post to escort us to the elevator.

The ascent was quick and quiet. We walked in the suite doors and were immediately greeted by the warmth that is his sister Daphne.

“Hey Em! I went this morning and got the cutest stuff for your kitty! And I hope you don’t mind but Kai helped me fill the closet with some outfits for you in case you decided to stay a little longer.”

She winked at Dane and then turned her attention back to me.

“Is this him!” She beamed at the little black fur ball in my arms and reached out for him. His head shot up at the site of the pink adorned beauty in front of him and he went to her without hesitation. She cuddled him up under her chin and grabbed my hand. She hurriedly ushered me into the bedroom opposite Dane’s master suite.

“I thought he could room with me for the night! I got him everything he needs!”

She pointed toward the corner of the room now fitted with a tall matte black cat tower in the shape of a medieval castle. Next to it laid a huge fluffy black cat bed and two matching black rhinestone bowls filled with food and water.

“I maybe over did it a little.. but we were never allowed to have pets growing up and I maybe got a little excited?” She said crinkling her nose and looking at me.

“Daphne this is perfect, you’ve spoiled him. I doubt he’ll ever want to leave after staying with you.”

Her eyes lit up as she clapped her hands together.

“Well Lucifer it’s time to party! I hope your momma won’t miss you too much for one night?”

“I think he’s in great hands. Thanks Daphne I feel so much better knowing he’s taken care of.”

With that I lean over and kiss her softly on the cheek and wrap her in a hug. She is by far the warmest person I’ve ever wrapped my arm around. It matched her demeanor perfectly.

I exited the room and went back to the room I left Dane in. He was flanked on either side by the twins, Emmitt and Elliott. Both stepped forward in unison and sandwiched me in a huge tight hug.

“We’re so excited Dane’s found you Emmaline,” says Elliott.

“Anything you need, please let one of us know.” Emmitt finishes.

They both lean in and kiss my cheeks at the same time. Elliott then playfully rustles the top of my head like a big brother might as they exited. It makes me giggle.

“I like them.” I lean up to the Dane.

He chuckles, “I think they like you too. Can’t blame em,” The smile on his face is sweet and sincere.

He ushers me into his bedroom. It is dimly lit with blue lights now emanating from under the bed. He shuts the door behind us and starts to unbutton the top buttons of his shirt. It’s effortlessly seductive. My mouth waters and he steps closer to me putting both hands around my hips.

“Before I take you to lunch we have a little time to kill. Any suggestions?” His eyes travel up and down scanning me head to toe.

I trail my finger through the chest hair exposed by his now partially open shirt.

“I can think of a few things.” I bite my lower lip in anticipation.

Steel grey eyes now peering down into mine.
