Alice grasped the doorknob and inhaled deeply before opening it. "Please, ma'am, come in,” Alice spoke in a low tone, full of anxiety.
Mrs. Milton entered, her eyes fixed on her. “It's 9 am, and I didn't see you around. Hope all's well with you.” Mrs. Milton asked, her voice firm.
“What's going on with you, Alice? I'm not blind. I observe how you run shifts with two businesses together while working here.”
“Really,” Alice sounded amazed with her jaw dropped.
“You can confide in me about anything dear,” Mrs. Milton assured Alice.
"Moreover, I overheard your conversation with someone. Do you have a brother who's battling with his life?” She inquired, her voice stern.
Alice's heart skipped. “Yes ma'am. He needs an urgent transplant; his life is slipping away," Alice admitted, her eyes filled with tears.
Mrs. Milton stood up, his expression determined. “What! Where's he now?” Mrs. Milton muttered.
Alice hollered, her voice breaking and her eyes watery. “I've been struggling to raise the money, all to no avail. Even if I work for my entire existence, I don't think I can raise that money.”
“How much is the bill?” She asked after being mute for a while. Contemplating in her thoughts.
“100 million dollars,” she answered in a low tone.
Mrs. Milton was quiet and drawn into her thoughts. “I despise Oliver's fiancée because she knows one of my deepest secrets. Why not use this opportunity to convince Alice to marry my son instead? Oliver can't refuse either with the offer I have in mind,” she murmured to herself.
She closed the gap between them and held Alice's hands while her eyes fixed on her. “You will be fine,” she assured her, wiping away her tears. “Take a deep breath and inhale slowly.”
Her gaze was still on her, contemplating how to break the news to her. “Alice, I've taken you as my own and I will help you.” The corners of Alice's mouth curled into a smile upon hearing that. "However, I have a proposition for you,” she added.
Alice clenched her fist, a surge of adrenaline coursing through her. “Anything at all, ma'am,” Alice said, ready to do anything to save her brother.
“Marry my son, Oliver. And your brother's transplant bills will be sorted out,” Mrs Milton revealed her terms, her voice ringing with a bit of tightness.
“What!” Alice exclaimed, her voice wheezy.
Alice's eyes narrowed, and she felt a burning sensation in her chest as the unbelievable words echoed in her mind.
The atmosphere was silent, they both gazed at each other, contemplating in their minds.
“How am I supposed to bond forever with her ruthless and manner-less son? Who womanizes and is an alcohol addict?” Alice thought to herself.
“What do you have in mind? I can give you time to think about it,” Mrs. Milton broke the silence.
Alice clenched her fist with a sense of adrenaline surging down her and stared at her. She bled inside of her, thinking of the huge sacrifice she was about to embark on. It left her with no choice. She can't watch the life of her only surviving family slip away just like that.
Her gaze drifted on Mrs Milton with her eyes a swarm of tears; she whispered in a low tone, “I will marry your son to save my brother. If that's the only sacrifice I will make for him to see the world again, then I'm ready, ma'am.”
The corners of Mrs. Milton's mouth turned into a smile, her posture became more relaxed. “Everything is under control; you have nothing to worry about,” she muttered, embracing her with open arms.
She left with her face full of smiles, but Alice wept within her. Getting entangled with a man, she despises his traits.
On the day of the wedding, even Alice's makeup couldn't hide the anguish and pain in her. She stares at the man she's exchanging vows with and her heart bleeds.
As they exchanged vows, Alice's voice was barely a whisper. “I have taken Oliver Milton as my legally wedded husband from today forward, for better or for worse.”
As Alice's eyes locked onto Oliver's, a sense of hopelessness washed over her. Because their union is doomed from the start.
Weeks after the marriage, Oliver came home drunk. His eyes locked onto Alice, a hint of guilt on his face. “I don't know what's wrong with me, Alice,” he whispered.
Alice's voice was full of anger. “Where have you been?” She waited for him till midnight to arrive from work. “I know you're not from the….”
Before Alice could end her statement, Oliver claimed her soft lips and started kissing her passionately. His tongue went all over her mouth. Alice tried to push him away, but she couldn't resist him.
“Let me feel you inside of me,” Alice whispered, her voice honeyed.
“Beg for it, Alice,” Oliver voices out loudly and giggles.
“Come closer and f**k me like your w***e. I can't wait to have a taste of you. I'm honey,” Alice said slowly fingering herself.
Oliver pulled her closer to himself and positioned his c**k on her c******s, rubbing it all over. Alice was moaning and her voice echoed throughout the entire room. “Let me moan harder, Oliver.”
“You're extremely wet and I love that,” Oliver whispered and started thrusting her mercilessly.
The next morning, Oliver woke up, his head aching severely. He was amazed he slept on the couch last night. But the moment he had with Alice was still fresh in his memory.
“What! It's 7 am already. Why didn't Alice wake me up?” Oliver muttered. He quickly stood up with his eyes still remnant from drinking to get ready for the office.
Alice's encounter with Oliver is still in her mind as she gets ready to go and visit her brother. She left the house before Oliver woke up from bed. It had been days since Alice went to the hospital; she was busy with the wedding.
Alice's footsteps howled as she approached the hospital room, her eyes fixed on the floor.
Her hands hovered around the door handle as she took a deep breath before pushing the door.
