Chapter 7 - past

Tamara pov

I was sitting talking with my husband about trying to find my daughter, she went missing a few days ago. I knew I shouldn’t have allowed her to go. He will still be looking for her, he believes that stupid prophecy means he can mate her and rule because he wants her powers and the powers that come with mating her. Which only applies to a true mate not a forced one.

Flashback-

My mate Lucian and I were so much in love, but alpha Jerome didn’t want that, he wanted us apart so he could take my daughter when I was pregnant he found a witch to spell my mate. He was unfaithful, and got another wolf from blood moon pregnant, she was the sister of alpha Jerome, our healers and witches confirmed it was Lucian’s child but he always said he had no memory of it and he wouldn’t have done it. His cousin luann used her magic and discovered the spell . She said as it was fading if she hadn’t used her magic when she did they wouldn’t have known he was cursed to do whatever was asked, including mating with a wolf. He wanted nothing to do with the girl or the baby. I talked him into letting her stay. She might be evil but the baby isn’t.

Her name was Sarah, I allowed her into my home but she continued to try and be with my mate but he wasn’t interested. He said once she gives birth she will be gone and the baby can stay. Just after we both gave birth only weeks apart as she went into labour a couple weeks early. Both of us had girls but only mine and Lucian’s had powers. She became jealous of Hayley having powers and her own not. She then Kept trying to swap the baby’s claiming she was “swapping them back” as she was of high rank and her baby had to have had the powers. We moved her to the other side of the castle to spend a few days with the baby before she left which only fuelled her rage. Me and my mate knew she would plan something with Jerome again so we had a plan. I would leave with our daughter and stay hidden until he could deal with alpha Jerome and Sarah. On the night we had planned I was planning on leaving he attacked our home. Our kingdom. We stuck with our escape plan said our goodbyes and agreed to meet back up at our cabin. and I was to leave out the back secret entrance, I took Hayley and on my way there Sarah was in my way, i think she was trying to find a way out with her baby aswell. She then brought her claws and swiped right at Hayley, I dodged just in time but she managed to cut me. I tucked Hayley into my jumped to help protect her. Sarah sat her child down on the floor. I wasn’t risking someone trying to take Hayley while I was trying to deal with Sarah. I summoned all my strength and kicked her. She smacked off the wall behind her. But then all of a sudden vines started surrounding her like they were holding her in place forbidding her to move. I looked down to check Hayley in my jumper when I realise the jumper has opened up and she can see everything and her eyes are glowing. I turn to the wall opposite Sarah and remove the lamp on the wall to reveal a keypad for the secret emergency exit. Only few know of its existence and by the shock on Sarah’s face she didn’t know about it, which meant neither did Jerome. I don’t worry too much as she can’t tell him either. Her only contact would be a phone that she doesn’t have as lucian took it the day before so she couldn’t tell Jerome until after I was already gone and since she isn’t part of their pack anymore, she left it when she came here to our pack, she was initiated into ours the the baby would be born into the pack so she can’t mind link him either. I make sure to cover the pin as I type it and the wall moves to the side and i step inside. As the door begins to close i see the vines started surrounding to loosen and hear her child start to cry so i know she is alright. I run as fast as I can and get out at the other side a few hours later. I’m unable to reach my mate on the emergency phone that is always kept charged in the tunnel or through mind link.

Once I get out the tunnel I’m in the middle of a forest. A few miles from our cabin when I hear a howl. It was my mate. I see him a few minutes later dragging Sarah and her newborn in wolf for, he scents me and turns looking at me, I see Sarah and her newborn are dead. But none of their blood is on my mate. He shifts and runs to me, kisses Hayley on the head and holds us. He then tells me that I need to leave. That they think I am dead. He found them outside and it looks like they fell from the building, he said he wasn’t sure if she tried to climb down and fell or if she was just running through doors and didn’t stop in time and fell off. But he found her at bottom and wanted to bury his daughter but thought since we were both dark blondes he made it look like it was us. He told me I had to leave without him. He still had to stay to try and fix the kingdom. We say our goodbyes and I get in the car that’s hidden by the road few miles away from the cabin and start to drive away with my daughter, leaving my mate behind, to keep my daughter safe. As I get further away from my mate and the kingdom I wish to see him again and I hope it’s while he is still sane, and she would still be a wolf, as lucian is a royal being apart from his mate and child he would start to go what royals call feral. Others just say crazy but for a royal he would recede into his Wolfen side gradually until he was just wolf, until he reunites with me and his daughter or if we die or he does I’m not a true royal it doesn’t effect me the same it will still hurt everyday and my wolf will get weaker. Eventually I’ll lose her if not reunited. Hayley will be different. She’ll feel like somethings missing but I’ll use magic to keep her wolf secret and hidden so nobody can track her or her powers until she’s ready, which should keep that feeling missing her father away. Until we can get back to him

[end of flashback]

Tamara pov

While talking to my husband James and working out how to find my daughter. My phone rings, a number I don’t recognise, I answer “hello?” I hear my daughters voice and once she tells me where she is I start to panic, that pack has elders in the council I’m thinking how to get her out before they know, when my daughter tells me someone wants to speak with me, I hear Jacob’s voice and know he’s used the abilities my mate and his family granted the council. It’s the ability to see into peoples minds, only painful if they resist the magic. I realise he has used it on my daughter and seen me in her memories when he addressed me as queen. I’m outraged, I start shouting down the phone “how dare u use the ability my mate and has family granted. That is my daughter! It was never to be used on us or someone who has done nothing wrong!” He goes on about how he had to find out who she was and why she was there and that he only shook her hand and used it. Which makes no difference. I tell him I’ll be there soon and hang up.

My husband, whom I met a few years after fleeing, and we became good friends, Hayley adored him. he knew what I was when he seen me part shift from the pain of being away from my mate, he is a warlock. A human warlock, who had been cast out his clan. I found out a few years later that he was infact gay and that was why he was cast out, human warlocks and witches believe in passing down the power. So they mate based on power not love and when James wanted to be with a man he was cast out as he couldn’t pass down his power to his children. I always felt it was wrong, humans don’t have to have kids the old fashioned way, they have science that could still help him have a child without him having to hide who he truly was. He was happy to leave, as far as I could tell it had happened a decade before I met him. We moved in together and after a while we just decided to marry, his scent hid me and hayley from wolves as we would smell of him as we lived together and he got to be a father we had been happy, never intimate always slept in separate beds in the same room so Hayley wouldn’t question as she believes James is her father.

I explained to James and he said he would drive up to get me and Hayley as I can’t bring anyone through my portals.

When I arrived and seen my daughter I just ran and grabbed hold, I was so caught up in my daughter that when I finally looked up at everyone hayley was being asked why she said her dad was human and I was a witch, “that’s what I raised her to believe”

“Why?”
