I lay in my bed, snuggled in between my sheets and thought of all that I had heard from Lucinda. All Himari had said.
It was after eleven. Himari had gone home and after a very quiet dinner we all went to our beds. I really wanted to sleep with Lucinda but I felt foolish.
I shook with fear. My life was never going to be the same and I knew it. I thought of mum and my eyes filled with tears. She had given up everything to protect us. Given up the father we had never seen, her family, her home, her friends. Absolutely everything. Just for us.
Even our own father had given us up. I started crying very silently for the family I had never had. The family I so wished i had, but i knew deep down i would never have.
It was only Denis and I left.
