DENVER'S POV
"An F Miss Howe." Mr Vandaugh said dropping a paper on my desk.
I looked down at it. It was my test from the previous day's class assessment and it had a bold red capital F written over it.
"Very disappointing." Mr Vandaugh replied through his nose.
I wanted to enter my seat in shame.
"Where is Mr Brook?" Mr Vandaugh asked from behind me.
I turned around to look behind my seat and true to his words, Jack Brook was absent. I had thought I had seen him when I entered class, but then, maybe I was just imagining things.
"Where is Mr Brook?" He consulted the students.
Everyone turned around to look at each other, that perhaps someone was going to raise his or her hands with information about Jack. But no one did.
"Am I any surprised?" Mr Vandaugh scoffed.
