Vivian was out of bed as early as 6am, ready to start her day.
The wedding was over and done with, it's only right that she gets back to her life.
Away from the madness that was slowly unfolding in her home.
Vivian puts on a pair of leggings and a sports bra, her hair up in a messy bun, laced up her trainers and she was ready to go.
A knock came on her door.
“Who is it?” She asked, wondering who else would be up so early in the morning.
“My name is Kira, ma'am. I am your personal maid assigned by Mr. Louise.”
Vivian sighed; what happened to Juliana? She was her personal maid at the mansion.
“I don't need anything right now, Kira. You can leave.” She ordered as she made her way to the door.
Vivian knew Louis well enough to know Kira was his little spy.
Hell, that old man's desperate need to control everything was starting to irritate her.
Vivian's eyes landed on Kira who had this huge smile on her face.
Her stomach twisted. If only she was in a good mood which she wasn't.
“I can do anything, madam. Cook, clean. Anything you want me to get done.” Kira offered, but Vivian wasn't having it.
“Can you stay put?” Vivam asked.
“If that's what you want, then yes, ma'am.”
“Good. Stay put.”
Vivan walked away and headed straight for the gym with her headphones on. She needed that adrenaline, or she would lose her f*****g mind in this house.
Finally, at the gym; t was a huge room with glass walls that oversaw the entire property. She could see the city, miles away from the mansion.
Vivian took to the treadmill, her entire body coated in sweat twenty minutes later. She had a dozen things on her mind, deciding whether or not to put matters in her own hands.
If she was to deal with Athena, she might commit murder.
She was that mad.
How is she going to live like this? They pretend to be a happy couple in front of everyone, but she is dealing with monsters indoors?
This was not the life her mother had with her father. Bless her soul in heaven.
Vivian was on the yoga mat in front of the mirror minutes later, doing some reasonable amounts of stretching in front of a mirror that ran from one end of the room to another.
She had to get Drew on the phone. Once she's done with her morning routine, she would be taking a ride around town with her friend Drew.
It wouldn't hurt to meet with a few friends too.
Vivian strikes the puppy dog stretch, her eyes closed, and her breathing coming out slow and steady.
She felt eyes fixed on her and she glanced up at the mirror.
Oscar was right behind her, and she had her ass up, right in his line of view.
There was something about the way he looked at her, the way his eyes seemed to roam her body before he could think much of it.
“Do you need something?” She asked, not sure what to make of him just standing there.
Oh he does but he'd be damned than admit it.
He clears his throat and looks away. “Wrong form.”
Her brows furrowed as she straightened up, her eyes fixed on him still as he made his way towards the treadmill.
“I didn't ask.” She shot back.
Who does he think he is? Her yoga instructor?! Tsk!
Vivian kneels on the mat and strikes the child pose, paying no more regard to this man.
She wasn't about to have any form of argument with him that morning.
All through her streaches, she felt his gaze on her.
She couldn't be bothered or at least she tried not to be.
“Hey. I didn't know you were here..”
It was Athena, and she had on the most scandalous-looking gym wear Vivian had ever laid eyes on.
Where did she get that from if she only came in here with a small bag? Is she planning to stay longer?!
Vivian shuts her eyes, ‘focus, focus, focus’ she said to herself.
“Yeah.” He said simply, running on the thread mill.
Athena's eyes landed on Vivian, who seemed to be in a very suggestive pose again.
Her eyes twitched before plastering that fake ass smile on her face once more.
“Oh!” She said loudly. “You're here.”
Vivian met her gaze through the mirror and returned to her work out without saying a word.
She had nothing to say to her.
Oscar turned off the mill, breathing heavily, his eyes glancing Vivian’s way more frequently than he would love to admit.
“You're done?” Athena asked.
“Shower.” He said simply before walking out of the room.
“Oh? Okay.” She said, her eyes following him until he was out the door.
Seeing she was alone with Vivian, she turned to face her, her fake ass smile still very much plastered on her face.
"Can I say something?" she asked softly.
Vivian continued her stretch, not sparing her a glance. She had better things to do with her time.
"You usually do anyway."
Athena sighed. "I know this is… uncomfortable for you."
Vivian remained silent, doing stretches.
She's known Athena for as long as she could remember. They were in the same study group and could as well be one of her friends back in college.
"I didn't want things to be like this."
Vivian said nothing still. She was used to the performance by now.
"I'm really sorry if I caused any tension," Athena continued. "It was never my intention to make you feel… displaced." Her lips curled in a small smirk.
"Especially not in your own marriage."
Vivian nodded slowly. "Are you done?"
Athena blinked. "I was just saying that…I don't want you to feel bad. I mean, Oscar was stressed last night and I helped him relieve his stress by…”
She clamps her hands over her mouth, turning to face Vivian with a look of shock on her face.
“I shouldn't have said that.”
Vivian chuckled as she got on her feet. “When are you leaving?”
Athena laughs nervously. “Oscar said I could stay a few more days if I want..”
Vivian's eyes narrowed on her as she hummed. “Okay.”
She walked out of the gym without saying a another word.
Looks like she would have to deal with this herself then.
***
Vivian was in the living area, dressed in a red, thigh-long dress, legs crossed as she sipped her tea and read the reports on the company.
Her mind was anywhere but on the damned report. Her gaze kept moving towards the door amd back to her report.
Even her assistant, Cassandra, could see Vivian was very much distracted.
A familiar laughter echoed in the front porch and Vivian's eyes perked up again.
One of the maids pulled the door open and Louise and Rick walked into the house, bearing gifts and laughter.
Vivian sets her tea on the saucer and hands the tablet over to Cassandra.
“I'll attend to this later.”
She approached the two old men with a smile, took them long enough.
“You're here! What a pleasant surprise.” She said.
“We came as soon as you called. Jasmine tea you said? We bought a lot of it." Rick said fondly as he hands it over to Vivian.
"Yes. Thank you so much, papa."
Rick waves her off. Louis moves closer, holding her hand with a smile.
"It's been barely twenty four hours and you miss me already? I had to drive down here as fast as I could."
She smiled. "I'm glad you did. I feel better now that you're here."
“Grandfather.” It was Oscar. His eyes scanned the duo as he walked down the stairs.
"My boy!" Louis said with a beaming smile.
Oscar managed a smile. "I wasn't told you'd be coming over."
Rick's eyes glanced at Oscar in disdain. "I need an invite to visit my children?"
Oscar offers a nervous laugh. "That's not what I meant.."
“They decided to drop by and say hello. Isn't that amazing?” Vivian said.
His eyes went from her to the two old men.
“My boy!" Louis said. "Come down here. Tell us about it uhm? When are we expecting a child?”
Vivian froze, and she could tell Oscar was caught off guard, too.
“A child.” he repeated.
“Yes! After your wedding night, we're expecting a grandchild! We want you to tell us when we will get to play with your kids!” Louise said, smiling.
Rick nods. "I don't want any looking like you though. That would be too much work." he said, clearly referring to Oscar.
For men who are over eighty, they sure act like ten-year-olds!
“Oscar! Baby!” Athena said, running down the stairs in a short yellow dress.
Her steps slowed down to see Louise and Rick in the living area.
“And who is she?” Rick asked, glaring at her with disgust.
She was wearing something so inappropriate in someone else's matrimonial home!
Oscar massaged his jaw, concealing his anger and irritation.
“Oh. She's a friend of Oscar's. She will be staying with us.” Vivian said, smiling.
“Staying with you?" Louis asked, "Why would she be staying with you when you just got married?”
A round of silence and awkwardness followed.
“My. Did I say she's staying with us? She didn't have anywhere to stay last night so we offered to sort that out. I believe she's leaving this morning. Am I right, Athena?” Vivian asked.
Athena glanced at her and back at the old men who were clearly not going to let this matter be.
“Yes.”
“Exactly. She is leaving right about now. I'll get a driver to drop you off.” Vivian offered.
Oscar forced a strained smile as her got closer to Vivian. "You don't have to. I'll drop her off later.”
“Where do you stay young lady?” Louis asked.
“May skyscraper.” Athena replied, trying to pull her dress down.
She could see the look of disgust on Rick's face still.
“That's good. We're heading that way. We can drop you off.” Rick replied.
“Rick, you don't…”
“I want to." Rick snapped. "I won't let you leave your woman alone when you just got married!"
Louis nodded. "I agree. Its important that you stay together uhm? We want our grandchildren as soon as possible."
“We will drop the young lady off. Come on, get your things. Let's go.” Rick said and Athena made her way back to the room, hesitantly.
She had glanced Oscar's way but he wouldn't even look at her.
Vivian smirked, if Oscar insisted, Rick would know something was up.
“We want two grandchildren. A boy and a girl..” Louis continued.
Oscar glanced at Vivian, a devious look in his eyes as he wrapped his arms around her waist, his grip tight.
“You can leave that to me.” he said, his warm breath brushing her face.
Vivian remained unfazed, annoying him even further.
Athena returned with her bag and soon, she was on her way out of the house with the old men.
“Take care of my daughter, okay? Goodbye..”
Minutes later, the men and Athena were gone.
“Charles,” Oscar called his assistant, his gaze fixed on Vivian..
“Yes, boss.”
“I want everyone in the house out.” Oscar instructed.
