It was the absolute worst day of her life and Bibi Faye was not having a perfect day.
At all.
First the alarm clock went off a minute earlier than she was suppose to get out of bed and get ready for work!
That freaking ruined her mood.
Then her breakfast had been nothing but disastrous! And to make matters even worse, rain fell heavily that morning and now her limited edition shoes had mud stains on them.
Urgh! The universe must be taking the piss this morning!
Cause why her? Why always her?!
Bibi Faye pulled a stop at the reflective glass walls of Pearl Corp and her ‘naturally beautiful face’ with no hint of plastic surgery at all, looked anything but perfect this morning.
Her hair had a strand poking out of place and her lips looked so chapped and pale!
“Urgh! For goodness sake!” She groaned, earning a few glances from other staff members who were heading in for work.
Right there she pulled out her hair brush from her hand bag and combed through her hair, taking her time while ignoring all the glances she was getting.
She even sent a death stare to one of the interns who was staring at her like she was violating company policy or something.
Not that she cared. Bibi Faye was far above the rules.
“What?” She asked the young man who took a glance around him, lips slightly parted like he had something to say but then forgot what he wanted to say.
She gave him a once over and a smile replaced her scowl.
“Intern?” She asked and the young man nodded slowly, folding his hands in front of him.
She waves him over, flipping the full volume of her hair, hair extensions and all, over one shoulder.
She knew it made her look innocent and had oftentimes gotten her everything she's ever wanted.
The young man's cheeks colored as he got closer and her smile only brightened, bingo.
She picked up her bag and handed it over to him, leaning slightly closer so he could get a scent of her perfume.
It was Fleur, the same brand Vivian Pearl was rumoured to use.
The one she had was definitely not a cheap knock off.
It'd made her smell expensive and irresistible and she had stuck with the scent ever since.
“Can you help me?”
The young man met her gaze slowly.
Her voice was as smooth as silk in his. ears, eyes widening even further at her dashing white smile.
She forged pain in her wrist and whimpered, a sound that might as well be mistaken for a very suggestive moan.
“My wrist hurts.” She said,
The young man nodded aggressively, “Yes, of course!”
He took the bag from her and she made sure her fingers brushed over his, making his face even brighter with red.
She returned to the mirror, combed her hair out and applied several layers of lip gloss.
The intern stood there, mesmerised, like he was watching a goddess at work at the stream or something.
She straightened up soon, ran her hands over her clothes and walked right into Pearl Corp.
The young man followed, mouth slightly open as though to say or ask something but he couldn’t seem to get the word out.
Lord, Bibi was stunning.
He knew that. He’d seen her around a couple times and today just happened to be the day she gave him attention.
He glanced down at her bag which he held close to his chest like a life line and smiled to himself.
“Bibi!” Someone called with a bright smile, waving to her. “Good morning.”
Bibi smiled. “Morning, Jas. You look stunning in that dress.”
“Awwn. Thank you!”
Jas, short for Jasmine, walked away with the brightest smile on her face; she just got a compliment from Bibi Faye!
The Bibi Faye!
Bibi's smile faltered as her eyes trailed after Jas.
She scoffed under her breath; b***h.
Jas wished she looked fine in that dress! Ah! She looks like a potato in a filthy sack!
Bibi had heard Jas spewing nonsense in the restroom about how she thinks Bibi was lying that Vivian was her cousin.
Bibi’s eyes narrowed on Jas's retracting figure, she was so going to teach her a lesson.
But right now, she's going to focus on being fabulous.
Minutes later, Bibi was on the floor of her department with the Intern still right behind her.
“Good morning people!” She greeted and every head turned towards her.
“Morning Bibi.” They all responded.
She settled in her seat and the Intern pulled a stop right next to her desk.
She finally glanced at him with a blank expression on her face.
“What are you doing?” She asked.
She gestured at the space on her desk.
“You can drop it there. Thanks.”
The intern set the bag on the table gently and stood next to her for another awkward minute.
What is he supposed to do now?”
“You can leave now.” Bibi said, trying not to sound passive aggressive as the Intern hurried away.
“Woah.” Tina, her desk buddy, wheeled her chair towards her. “New catch?”
Bibi flipped her hair. “Yeah. He's been so obsessed with me and literally begged me to allow him to carry my bag.”
She sighs dramatically. “It's unbelievable.”
Tony, one of her co workers, glanced at the Intern and then back at Bibi.
“I can't say he's your type though. Isn't he an intern?”
Caroline nodded. “Yeah I mean..” she sips from her water bottle.
She always seems to need to lubricate her lungs every time she needs to speak.
“He’s an intern.”
Bibi chuckled nervously. “He's not just an intern. He's related to the Yul family.”
Everyone gasps in shock as they all try to get a look at the Intern in question.
“The Yul family?”
“Isn't that family the largest distributors in the oil and gas industry?”
“Yes.” Bibi said and leaned back in her seat.
“Woah.”
“But why is he here as an intern?”
“Yeah. Pearl Corp doesn't deal in oil and gas..”
Bibi's eyes darted around the room nervously before finally bursting into an awkward laughter.
“Goodness,” she breathed. “Life is so simple for you guys, isn't it?”
She leans forward. “You know I always tell you that a lot of rich kids are not as spoiled as you think.”
Her coworkers nodded, moving closer to hear her better like she was about to tell them the secret to becoming a multimillionaire or something.
“Some of them have to earn their place in the family business and to show that they are humble, they have to go into either their own family owned business or another conglomerate and start from the lowest level.”
“Oh.”
They nodded as she lowered her voice in that tone they all knew meant it was top secret.
“And they aren't supposed to tell anyone but you know.”
She flips her hair across her shoulders.
“I have my ways of finding out.”
“But you told us you are Ms. Vivian's cousin.”
Bibi places her hands over her lips, hushing them almost immediately.
“I said don’t tell anyone!” She reminded. “You're going to make this very hard for me! This is my training period and if I mess this up, I will get kicked to the curb!”
Her coworkers nodded in understanding, sending a warm feeling down her spine as she glanced from one convinced face to another.
“I will keep your secret for sure!” Tina assured.
“Me too.”
“Me too!”
Bibi laughed. “I knew I could trust you guys.”
“Don't forget us when you get a pass on your training.”
Bibi laughs, her hands covering her mouth.
“Of course! You guys have been amazing! Helping me out with the tasks and everything else. You guys are the best.”
They all cheered, applauding their favourite elite and humble princess.
“Ah.” Tina moves closer as the rest of the team returns to their work.
“The team leader asked us to deliver three design ideas and..” Tina flips through a print out she'd worked on all night.
“I have three ideas that I think are perfect.” She hands over the papers.
“You can submit them to him.”
Bibi gasped, covering her mouth with her hands.
“Really? You're giving it to me?”
Tina nodded. “You said you need to get promoted at least once so you can finally be recognised. ”
Bibi laughs nervously. “I did.”
“Here you go.” Tina smiled.
“I will be more than happy to work as your assistant when that happens.”
Bibi's smile grew wider until her eyes seemed to narrow into slits.
“I would love that.”
Tina wheeled away and Bibi finally went through the print out, flipping from one page to another.
Her smile seemed to falter with each page.
Show off.
She glanced over at Tina who has her face buried in another task and scoffed internally.
Her assistant? As if!
