Vivian returned to the hall, trying to catch her breath and make sense of what she had just done and said!
Somehow, she managed to keep her composure as she walked towards the wine table to help herself with another glass.
Just when she was about to get the glass in between her fingers, someone grabbed it and sipped out of it immediately.
Athena's eyes stared at her as she gulped down the entire content in the glass.
“This is nice. It's Oscar's favorite; are you aware of that?” She asked, plastering a fake smile on her face.
Vivian chuckled; this wasn't his favorite. Athena had the least idea of how much she knew about Oscar.
Vivian straightens up. This is going to be a long talk.
“Have we met before?”
“Oh. I've heard so much about you. It was starting to feel like we've met. My bad. I'm Athena, the only woman Oscar loves. I'm sure you've heard about my relationship with Oscar before you snatched him away.”
She stretches her hand in a handshake like she expected Vivian to be friendly.
“Is everything okay here?”
It was Drew with a wine glass in hand, red and ready.
“Who are you?” Athena asked, earning a side eye from Drew.
“It's time to cut the cake, girl. Go and stand next to your man.” Drew emphasized.
Vivian was grateful for the save and walked away like Drew had told her to.
She knew what that wine glass was for, and she couldn't help but smirk at the thought.
“Oops!”
Drew ‘accidentally’ poured the wine on Athena's dress. The stain was so obvious that it made the dress look hideous. Athena gasps in shock, staring at the stain in horror.
“I am so sorry! It's an honest mistake! Looks like you would have to change out of that.” Drew said with a sly smile on his face.
Athena glared at Drew.
“You did this on purpose!” She screamed.
“It was a mistake, dear! I'm willing to pay for the dry cleaning, okay? You need to get out of that dress first..” He said once more.
Vivian joins Oscar by the cake, whose eyes keep moving from Athena to his wife.
“What happened there?” He whispered in her ear, the moment she was close enough.
“I don't know what you're talking about.”
His hands slipped around her waist, and his grip tightened as they both tried to cut the cake on the MC's call.
“If you try to hurt Athena…”
“A married man defending another woman over his wife is not a good look, Mr Oscar.”
Oscar lets out a little groan.
“Don't test me, Vivian.”
She smirked. “Smile, the reporters are watching.”
Oscar turned to the camera, suddenly aware of the crowd applauding them.
“I'll say this once: if anything happens to Athena, I will not hesitate to hurt you. Do you get that?”
Vivian exhaled, her eyes shut as she tried to control the rage in her body.
“Loud and clear.” She replied.
♡♡♡
The wedding was finally over, and it was time to bid their guests a good night.
Pretending to be the loving couple they weren't, they waved all their guests goodbye at the entrance into the hall, thanking them for showing up for the wedding.
“Drew..” Vivian called with a smile as her friend approached her.
“Thanks for showing up for this.”
Drew nodded. “Just call me if you need anything.”
His eyes went to Oscar, and he hurried off. He was THE Oscar Onyx. Not even Drew could meet him eye to eye!
Except for Vivian, of course.
“I am glad that this wedding was a success!” Rick, Oscar's grandfather said, patting Louis in the back fondly.
“It's been a long time coming, my friend,” Louis said proudly.
“I'll head home now. We've had a long day.” Vivian offered. She wanted to get away from all this.
“Aren't you going with Oscar?” Rick asked, glancing from her to Oscar.
“You wanted us to get married, which we already did,” Oscar said, trying to hold back his disdain.
“No, no. You two are married and it’s only right that you live together! Now, Rick and I got you both a mansion at Hilton Estate. It's just to your taste and you will love it there.” Louis said with a smile.
“There will be no need for that. I'm sure we…” Oscar started but went quiet when Rick shook his head vehemently.
“It's either my way or the highway. What's it going to be?” Rick asked, studying Oscar with meaning.
Vivian studied the duo in silence. There was an unknown agreement between these two, so serious that Oscar didn't fight this as he should.
“Thank you,” Oscar replied simply, taking the keys from Rick.
Vivian couldn't believe this! They had an agreement to stay the hell out of each other's lives, but here they were, consenting to living together.
She couldn't argue this out of respect for Rick, but damn! She would have fought with her grandfather over this decision if he was alone!
“Now off you go. It's your wedding night, after all.”
The old men laugh at this as Vivian and Oscar settle in the same car as gestured by Rick.
The driver drove out of the venue moments later, but the young man could feel the tension in the air! He wished he had taken the day off because Oscar isn't a very sweet person when he is upset. Hell, he has never been a sweet person when he's calm either!
“We had an agreement!” Vivian reminded him.
“Do you want to go back there and argue this out?” Oscar asked.
She scoffs at him, like he was expecting her to defile his father, how rational!
“We will stay in separate rooms and stay out of each other's business.” He adds coldly.
“Fine by me,” Vivian muttered, staring out the window.
This was going to be the rest of her life. Or a year, with a man as cold as this! She didn't think this through.
At all.
The driver pulled over in the garage, and the duo got out of the car to a lovely mansion.
Before she could take in how beautiful the mansion was, her eyes landed on a familiar figure at the door with several boxes next to her.
“Oscar! I got your message, and I hurried down immediately.”
It was Athena, smiling like she had just won the lottery.
Vivian regarded her in silence; this had better not be what she was thinking.
“What is the meaning of this?” Vivian asked, meeting Oscar's gaze.
He walked right past her and headed towards Athena.
“Take her things in.” He ordered the guard by the door.
“If you dare take any of her things into my house, I will set it on fire!” Vivian warned.
