Chapter 76: A New Kind of Family
Adrian’s POV
Everything was softly golden as the early light streamed through the kitchen windows. I no longer took that infrequent moment of calm for granted. Elena flipped pancakes while singing gently while standing at the counter with her hair in a loose braid. The blueberries Elena kept pushing just out of reach were enthusiastically grasped by Lily's little hands as she sat on a stool.
With a grin pulling at her lips, Elena murmured, "Be patient, sweetheart."
"But I'm assisting!" Lily objected, her tone filled with outrage.
As I entered the room, I teasingly said, "You're eating more than you're helping."
With blueberries puffing up her cheeks, Lily turned to face me. "Untrue!"
The sound of my laughter came more naturally than it had in years.
