Chapter 33:A Familiar Stroke Adrian POV Covered in golden frames and velvet shadows, the space was a museum of extravagance. The collector, a gaunt guy who liked diamond cufflinks, made a dramatic motion toward the wall behind him. With arrogant pride, he said, "And this is the crown jewel of my collection." I pretended to listen and nodded absently, but my focus strayed. The air was heavy with the scent of varnish, old wood, and a hint of perfume. Negotiating a bargain was the only reason I had stayed up this evening. The extravagance, the small conversation, the too sweet champagne—all of it was noise. Then I noticed it, however.
