Later that night, Gabe pulled free of them, and said he needed to check on the dogs. Twenty minutes later, Magna was sleeping contentedly in Kane’s arms, but Gabe still hadn’t returned. Kane slipped from the bed, threw on his jeans and a shirt, and walked into the kitchen. Grabbing a beer out of the refrigerator, he opened the back door and stepped out onto the deck where Gabe was standing, looking out at the ocean over the treetops.
