Helen’s POV
It took time, but as the months passed the pain reduced. The whole in my heart was still there, but the pain lessened. Still, I couldn't fully let myself be happy not completely. “How did you sleep?” Vincent asked as he pulled me close to him.
“Better than usual,” I told him. His scent wrapped around me like a security blanket. The more he was with me, the more I felt okay.
“Do you have to go soon?” I asked. Even though I wasn’t sure if I would ever truly be happy like I was with my family, but every day was better with him.
“I don’t need to go in right now,” he answered as he kissed the top of my head. “But they will need me today. Being of Beta blood, I have to teach some of the warrior training sessions.” I could hear his dislike of leaving me in his voice.
