Preparations

Ares POV "Our dads want us to represent them at this year's Alphas Summit," I told my brothers Ash and Adonis while we sat in the game room. "Why?" Adonis asked. "Too busy buried in mom," Ash said with a smirk. "Okay, when you're done getting your head out of the clouds, our dads are going out of town to see about some recent vampire attacks that have been going on within the packland," I explained. "Typical of them to leave us with the women," Adonis said with a smug look. "What about women?" our mom asked, coming in with our sister Camilla and our grandma Elena following behind her. "Just saying how glad we are to have you planning the summit gathering for the Alpha Kings," Ash said, getting up and hugging mom and grandma. As the youngest triplet, they always gave in to him and his puppy-dog mismatched eyes. "We will help you, yes, and besides, you are representing your dads as Alpha Kings until the vampire issue is dealt with," Grandma Elena said, leaning against the wall. "Fine," Ash and Adonis groaned. I swear, sometimes they acted like they were still two years old. "We will start the preparations. I'm sure you will do fine representing the Alpha Kings. You three are already doing amazingly as the pack alphas," Mom said. "Plus, you never know — you may meet your mate," Camilla threw out. Now it was my turn to groan. The women laughed, but my brothers simply glared. They knew I didn't want a mate. The three of us had slept with some pack members, and they knew that if I found my mate, I was going to reject her. It put us at odds, though, because the three of us knew she might get all three of us as mates. "Well, if we do, I'm sure she will be everything I ever dreamed of," Ash stated, putting emphasis on the word "I." Out of the three of us, he was the most caring, and he had only slept around once compared to Adonis and me. Ash had decided to wait for his mate and be loyal to her, which I admitted was a quality I was envious of, but I still stood by what I said. I had never and would never want a mate. I saw how my mom acted around my dads and how our grandparents were with each other. I just didn't want to be subjected to that kind of commitment or weakness. That was what it was. My brothers and I walked out and started ordering everyone to prepare for the summit. As the biggest pack in the USA, we couldn't show any weakness, as there were always those who looked to question our authority. They questioned our dads, but I dared them to question my brothers and me. My brothers and I had a reputation for violence, but only half of it was true. We were only violent if, in any way, we were threatened or felt our pack was. The rumors of our methods spread throughout the world, and we let them. They incited fear and let others know never to question us. While we were walking around the grounds getting things set up, I spotted pink eyes. Brianna, or as my brothers called her, "the pack w***e," was walking toward us. She was pretty, with her short, blackish-blonde hair and green eyes. I could tell she was wearing tons of makeup, though. All three of us had had a fling with her once. Somehow, she had gotten it into her head that we were going to mark her and make her our Luna. That would never happen. Ash POV The pack w***e walked up to us with a huge smile on her face, grabbing both Ares and Adonis's arms. She threw me a lusty smile, and I rolled my eyes. Ever since we slept with her, I had heard she'd been telling everyone we were going to mark her and make her Luna. I hadn't slept with anyone since, as my Lycan was very pissed that I had touched anyone but our mate, and he was right. Out of the three of us, I couldn't wait to find my mate. I knew we had to put out this bad-boy image, and I was fine with that, as long as wolves stayed in their place. But I had always wanted someone I could just be myself around, break down in front of, and not feel like I had to keep my guard up constantly. Adonis was okay whether he found his mate or not. His attitude sort of went both ways, but I knew he was just keeping his walls half-up in case we never found her. I was positive we would end up sharing the same mate, and Ares knew this. He didn't want a mate at all and just randomly slept around, even though our mom and dad both told him not to or it would lead to issues, but he didn't care. I knew it was going to cause me to hate him if he rejected her if we indeed shared the same mate, and he knew it too. He slept with Brianna so much. I was sure he was the reason she was still trying to worm her way into Adonis's and my arms constantly. "I'm going to help finish setting up for tomorrow," I told my brothers without so much as a glance toward her. I knew I was being rude, but I didn't want anything to do with her. If I had not been drunk that one time we slept with her, I would never have done it to begin with. I just wanted my mate. Wherever she was. Adonis POV We watched Ash walk off, seeming annoyed. I knew it was because Brianna had linked arms with Ares and me. I'll admit I was annoyed too, but I'm more chill, so I didn't let it get to me. Besides, she had never done anything to me to make me dislike her. Ares seemed more interested in her than we were anyway. He and I both knew we might all end up sharing the same mate. If we did find her, I knew I'd probably fall for her quickly, especially if she was cool and laid-back like me. I also knew Ares might reject her, which would weaken the bond and possibly cause it to break, so I wasn't going to get as close as I would have liked. I preferred to stay ahead of things. "I think Ash hates me," Brianna pouted as we kept walking around the pack grounds. "He doesn't hate you, babe; he just has some stuff going on in his head. He'll come around," Ares told her. I mentally rolled my eyes. "What about you, Adonis? Do you still like me?" she asked, flashing her fake t**s in my face. I hated that nickname, and she knew it. She liked to push my buttons so I would punish her. My eyes flashed before I smelled our beta coming close. I broke away from her instantly. "I'm going to finish up with Kyle," I told her, flashing a fake smile before walking off to Kyle. "I see Brianna is trying yet again," Kyle said, watching her put her arms around Ares and kiss him. "Yeah, I don't know what she is going to do when we find our mate," I told Kyle. Ares pulled away from the kiss and glared at me before walking away. I knew he would hear me. "Anyway, I've already called to confirm everyone who said they were coming; I just need you to sign off on this." I scribbled my signature on the forms. "Tell Gamma Clair to double-check the decorations and to help my mother and grandmother with any decorations." "Why is it that all women are forced to worry about decorations? I'm gamma of this pack. I certainly should have more respect than that," Clair said, coming up behind me. Clair was my mom's friend's daughter. She looked just like her mom, with her blonde hair pulled back neatly into a bun. "Your right, males, like you should be helping with other stuff," Kyle joked, which earned him a punch in the chest from her. Kyle looked at me with exaggerated shock. "Don't look at me like that; you set yourself up for that," Clair said. I laughed at his fake tears. Growing up, other than my brothers, I was always closer to Clair and Kyle. They just had a vibe that I appreciated, and that was all we needed to know. "Just go help them, Clair," I told her, and I walked away. We had so much to do and not that much time. I was about to go pull Ares out of his lust-filled session. We were running this pack together, dammit.
