The undead was lifted off his feet and propelled through the pub window as smoke issued from the barrel of the barman’s blat. “Only one thing worse than Fairy in your pub,” he said, racking his gun, “and that’s undead.” Fairy tugged unhelpfully at Teddy as he climbed back to his feet. The undead soldier’s hand appeared at the window as he pulled himself upright. Three more undead arrived at the window and the barman fired at them, taking off their heads. “Which way was the palace again?” Teddy asked, “And is there another way out of here?” When Rickenbacker first heard the coughing, wheezing and puffing, he thought it was the lift itself, looking over at the maintenance hatch for some sort of problem.
